It's an interesting time to be Intel. Between rumors of an alleged Qualcomm takeover bid (that's bad), the recent fanfare around the Core Ultra Gen 2 laptop launches (that's good!) and ongoing drama over stability issues in its 13th and 14th gen desktop chips (that's bad)... there's a lot going on. So you could be forgiven for not remembering that we're rapidly approaching the expected release window for new 15th gen desktop processors -- aka Arrow Lake -- aka Core Ultra 2 for desktop. And these new CPUs will be crucial in bringing the heat to AMD in terms of performance per watt in particular -- 'cause right now, those 13 and 14900K chips are known to run pretty toasty. So let's jump into what we know so far about Intel's 15th gen Arrow Lake CPUs.

NVIDIA has released its latest GeForce WHQL Game Ready drivers, version 561.09, which brings optimizations for FINAL FANTASY XVI and God of War Ragnarök games, including support for DLSS 3 technology. It also adds launch support for EA SPORTS FC 25 and Frostpunk 2 games. The new GeForce 561.09 WHQL Game Ready drivers also add new GeForce Optimal Settings for Black Myth: Wukong, F1 Manager 2024, and Star Wars Outlaws games. Unfortunately, it does not fix any previously seen gaming bugs, but it does add several general bug fixes, including a fix for GeForce Experience where Performance Monitoring overlay could stop refreshing GPU information, a fix for NVIDIA App, where game filters may be missing when invoking the NVIDIA Overlay in-game, and a fix for performance issues in some workloads with Chaos V-Ray. Interestingly, there are no listed open issues with the latest driver either.

Here is the prologue of the game. The NVIDIA RTX 4090 is powerful enough to push constant 60fps at all times, even during fights. The gameplay footage was recorded with the NVIDIA App (which reduces the overall performance by around 5fps).

For those wondering, previously I found 24H2 was 11% faster with the 9700X when compared to the 'bad install'. Compared to the 'good install' it's 7% faster on average, and if you remove the best 10 results from the 43 game sample it's just 4% faster. So the margins will depend heavily on the games used for testing.
