Video games are the favorite hobby for many people. In general, there is a lot of positive in it. No one refuses a positive impact of video games. After all, this is not the worst alternative. But there are negative factors, due to which the time spent playing should be minimized.

Games take away precious time

If you count how many hours an average gamer spends in games — you can come to the only conclusion — a lot. And if all of this is recalculated for a month or a year — the number might scare. Needless to say, how much time fans spend on games in the whole life.

And it can be spent much better. There are different useful and interesting hobbies, sports, relationships, reading, and learning, including language learning, an additional job and, respectively, a better profit with all the consequences. All of this can bring way more benefit than games.

A person who goes away from a computer has time on more interesting things than games. It is at least enough for necessary activities.

Games substitute real values

Playing video games, a person has a goal to achieve something in them. It can be the accomplishment of all missions, achievements, a purchase of the virtual estate, earnings, a victory over antagonists and many more. As a result, a person achieves more in a virtual world of games, which pleases it. Everything would be good but it harms real life. If the last point was referred to time, but here we are talking about efforts and goals. Instead of achieving something virtual, improving your character and becoming rich in a game, you can set a goal in life. You can improve the real you fully, achieving something in real. This is more interesting and mainly more valuable.

Games can be harmful to health

It must be noted here. It can be harmful not to everyone and not always. It depends on the time spent on games and a person. But generally, the statement is objective. First of all, it is an influence on the eyes. Playing games in front of a computer, a person is looking at a monitor for a long time. Both social media fans, office workers and freelancers do so. But if ones do this for their work, others do this for entertainment. An impact on your eyes can be not significant but eyes become tense and tired. Secondly, it is inactivity. One thing is when a person moves the whole day and does sports and then sits in front of a computer a bit and another thing is when it sits in an office/at a lesson/in a car half a day and spends another one in front of a PC. The influence is unfavorable in the second case.

Thirdly, it is a psychological impact. You can argue. Video games instead calm a lot of people, reducing stress. But in a row of cases, tense moments, online scandals with other players, irritation cause the opposite effect. And it makes a bad influence on the nervous and cardiovascular system.

Games cause addiction

Some people are so vulnerable to their hobbies that they can overdo them. It often happens with gamers. They start spending all their spare time in games, searching for tricks to play even in working hours, talk about games with others, think about games when they are alone and so on. In short, games start occupying so much space in life that it becomes a problem.

Addiction is avoidable. It affects not all initially but the fact is that the risk of becoming addicted to games is very significant.

Games damage a budget

All previous factors are very important. But they look especially bright against a financial question. Games require not only spare time but big money.

It is worth to start with a purchase of proper gaming hardware. It can be a gaming console or a PC with impressive specifications. Both options are not very cheap. And if you refuse from games, there is no need for them. In most cases, even a budget PC is enough.

Then here comes a purchase of games. There is a factor of free piracy but you have to spend well on console games or official PC versions, including multiplayer. Leading projects cost several dozens of dollars. An enthusiastic gamer’s collection is hundreds and thousands of dollars.

And the most useless and most noticeable expense is a donation. They are relevant only for popular online games. This is a bottomless abyss, in which players regularly waste their money. Free-to-play projects are worth calling gambling rather than gaming.

And these are not the only but very significant reasons, having thought about which, games should not leave their hobby right now but, at least, think about the objectiveness and this pastime personally for themselves.
