V8 Challenge is car racing game based on the Australian championshipV8 Supercars and built around the popular HSV team and well known driver Mark Skaife. The game builds on Digital Illusions' successful Nordic Swedish Touring Car Championship concept and recreates many of the famous tracks such as Bathurst, Sandown Park Raceway and Adelaide. V8 Challenge includes some V8 Supercars top teams including the Holden Racing Team, Ozemail Racing, Castrol Perkins Racing, Big Kev Racer, sadly due to licensing issues (maybe you heard that Codemasters will release Race Driver - another V8 Supercars title this year) not all the V8 Supercars teams have been included.
As well as the V8 series, the developers have also included Bonus V8 Ute Series featuring the HSV Maloo cars.V8 Challenge offers several types of racing, the main part of the game is Championship which takes place across 8 rounds, the other modes are Single Race, Time Attack (single race without opponents) and Multiplayer via LAN or Internet.
I live in Europe, so I have heard about V8 Supercars only from TV, but it's not bad to drive these cars > 200km/h, though playing with keyboard is almost impossible. I strongly recommend you to play this game with wheel or joystick. I am of the opinion that keyboard isn't enough sensitive interface to control racing games such as Nascar and V8 Supercar. Most gamers think these racing titles aren't playable for casual players, but this time developers decided that rather then create a hardcore sim, that they will make a mix. V8 Challenge game isn't a hardcore racer like Grand Prix Legends, it's essentially a cross between a simulation and an arcade game, but still offers a few options for the hardcore racers. If you're any V8 Supercars fan then then pick up this game.
