Company 'BiArt' represents it's new project - PC game Diver: Deep Water
Adventures, which is going to be the first diving simulator in Russia. Depths of
oceans have always attracted humankind, sometimes even more than embraces of a
fatal beauty. Thousands and thousands of dare-devils seeked adventures in deep
waters. Alluring treasures of sunken boats, mysterious nature, legends...
In the game you are going to become familiar with the underwater world and
experience endless range of unforgettable adventures. But you can begin to earn
your living by diving only after you succeed in passing courses and get a
diver's certificate and after you buy necessary equipment. Special attention in
the game is paid to authenticity. All underwater missions are based on real
sites and events.
The main heroes of our story are Andy and Nicole, a young couple in permanent
search of adventures keen on diving and underwater archeology.
Andy McMasters was born in a rich family and his father, successful businessman,
wanted Andy to inherit his business but young McMasters had other plans. So the
generation ideological gap follows, Andy quarrels with his father and leaves
home in search of a better life.
Nicole Sanders is a real beauty from poor family who had to earn for living
since childhood. Somehow she was able to enter the university where she met Andy
and decided he was the man of her dream. Nicole is ready to follow her flame and
help him on land and sea. After Andy leaves home he and his girlfriend go to New
York to find some job in the port. Here they are found by Steve Nichols, Andy's
uncle. In the past Steve was a famous scientist, who made a lot of discoveries
and contributed to the world evolution of underwater archeology. All his life
Steve dreamt to solve the mystery of lost Atlantis. But an accident in the
Pharaoh tombs has bound him to an invalid chair, so he had to give up active
researches. Steve feels that the young couple may help him to implement his
plans and does his best to provide our heroes with all the necessary
information. Steve also makes all his ties work to supply Andy with constant,
interesting and well-paid job according to his speciality.
But the world is cramped and while completing their tasks Andy and Nicole
face black divers from "Izen Cross" (illegal archeological organization)
constantly. They are also seeking for the Atlantis and won't stop in front of
brutality and assassination of their rivals. So our heroes have to be very
careful and ready to defend while they are under water.

researching sunken submarines, vessels and crashed transports, immersion to the
Loch Ness lake and to the area of Bermudan triangle, neutralization of the

Gameguru Mania got a chance to ask some questions with BiArt's project
director Konstantin Popov to find more about Diver: Deep Water Adventures. He
also provided us with new movie trailer and 28 new screenshots.
GGMania: Could you introduce yourself to our readers and tell them a
little bit about what you do on Diver: Deep Water Adventures?
Konstantin Popov: Hello. My name is Konstantin
Popov and I am director of the project Diver: Deep Water Adventures.
GGMania: Can you give us a little background on the development team
working on Diver: Deep Water Adventures?
Konstantin Popov: Our team consists of
experienced and high-qualified programmers who have been working in the game
industry for more than 7 years. Our head programmer is a diver himself so he
really knew what he was developing.
GGMania: From where did you get the inspiration to make this game?
Konstantin Popov: You see I am a PADI Rescue
Diver myself. Occasionally, when I went on a diving resort in Hurghada, almost
whole future team of "Diver" developers roomed numbers in one hotel… And so the
story began. Now we often go there to relax, dive and have a rest from work.
GGMania: How do you see Diver: Deep Water Adventures in terms of the type
of game you're making?
Konstantin Popov: Well I would call it a
simulator with elements of action and economical strategy.
GGMania: What is the primary target market for Diver: Deep Water
Adventures?
Konstantin Popov: The target market for "Diver"
is divers as well as people who are far from diving but are interested in the
charming world which lies beneath water.
GGmania: What sort of missions can gamers expect? Can you give us an
example?
Konstantin Popov: Well there are three
categories of missions in our game: taking photos of rare marine fauna species,
finding/ fixing something and killing/ blowing up something. For instance in one
of the missions we have realized multi-level military base, where you are going
to face black divers and their remote operational vehicles (radio-controlled
robots).
GGMania: You claim the game will be "nonlinear" and "infinite". Can you
explain it?
Konstantin Popov: Yes, sure. You can complete
each mission as many times as you want. Additionally, we have alternation of day
and night on our world map and the sites you see as you immerse depend on that.
GGMania: What can you tell us about the diving-sites in the game?
Konstantin Popov: For diving-sites of our game
we have modeled some real objects including KT-12, Liban, Prosper Schiaffino,
Rubis and Thistlegorm. For further information about these places player can
consult Library in the game.
GGMania: The interface is always the most important thing, especially in
this genre. How will the interface handle all of the game's complexity?
Konstantin Popov: We will do our best to make
the player feel comfortable even if he is not familiar with the world of diving.
GGMania: What other gameplay elements in the game do you consider to be
important and/or unique? Will there be anything new that we've never seen before
in any simulation/strategy game?
Konstantin Popov: And how many diving simulators
have you seen before? The idea of developing it is unique itself! :)
GGMania: What can you tell us about the engine that is being used for the
game?
Konstantin Popov: We have developed our own
engine for the game during 2.5 years. Among its main features I'd mention
realistic surface of the water, divine rays, caustica, 3-D mist, realistic
physics, procedure animation and effect of ragdoll.
GGMania: What are the minimum system
requirements?
Konstantin Popov: Pentium IV 1600MHz, RAM 256MB,
CD-ROM drive 24x, HDD 3 GB, Video card DirectX 8 compatible - GeForce 3 /Pixel
Shader support/
GGMania: Will the game have a multiplayer mode? If so, what will it
include?
Konstantin Popov: No, we don't have a
multiplayer mode in this version, but probably in the sequel of the game we are
going to introduce it.
GGMania: When can we expect to see the game hit store shelves and at what
price? Will it be released in North America?
Konstantin Popov: Diver: deep water adventures
will be released in European countries in autumn and concerning North America we
are looking for publishers now. Speaking about the price it mostly depends on
the publishers but it will approximately be in the range between 20 - 40 $.
GGMania: Thank you for taking the time to answer these questions. Is there
anything you want to add that we didn't cover?
Konstantin Popov: Not at all :) Well in the
conclusion I want to say that we are planning to work in two directions and
issue two different products on underwater themes - sequel of "Diver" which is
going to be a multi-platform military underwater simulator with more action
based on historical events and another one is a sport diving simulator
exclusively for divers. We hope the gaming world will accept and love them!
