The OSRS Gauntlet is a solo minigame in Prifddinas. The goal is to be able to defeat the Hunllef. Players have a limited time to explore the gauntlet. They can use the time to gather resources or defeat enemies to craft equipment. The latter is necessary since you cannot bring any item from outside the minigame. You're only given a wand and some gathering tools, while your items are stored in a box outside of the instance. It'll be returned when you exit the game.

There's a harder version of the minigame, called the OSRS Corrupted Gauntlet. While they share the same rewards, the corrupted version has higher drop rates for the rewards. One of which is the Blade of Saeldor, which has a 1 in 2,000 drop rate in the normal version. In the more challenging one, it has a 1 in 400 chance—not a promising prospect but still a considerable jump from the normal rate. That's more opportunity to earn OSRS gold!

The Mechanics

You'll start out with a wand, an ax, pickaxe, harpoon, a mortar and pestle, and one single teleport seed. The dungeon is a grid of 7x7 rooms, one of which contains the boss (usually beside the entry room). The entry room has a few objects you can use to craft various items or exit from the dungeon.

Each room (other than the entry one) may contain resource nodes or monsters, sometimes both. The nodes include Crystal Deposits, Linum Tirinum, Phren Roots, Grym Roots, and Fishing Spots. The monsters you might encounter can be categorized into three groups.

Weak - spiders, rats, and bats

Strong - unicorns, scorpions, and wolves

Demi-boss - bears, dragons, and beasts

All enemies or nodes drop some items needed to craft or upgrade your equipment. You could craft three weapons, a halberd, a bow, and a staff as well as a full set of armor. Each piece of equipment also has three upgrade tiers. The idea is to go around collecting resources to craft weapons and armor to use for the boss fight, within the time limit. You'll have to be efficient with your time so you can defeat the boss.

The Boss

Hunllef switches between two attack modes, as well as protection prayers. He switches attack modes every four attacks, and prayers at around every five attacks. Every once in a while, he sends out tornados you have to avoid by swiftly moving around. Tornados deal some damage over time, but the real danger is when they stack up on you. Their damage also stacks up, which is likely to lead to your death.

Adding to challenge are damaging floor tiles. As you battle Hunllef, the floor will light up in certain patterns. Stepping on those tiles will damage you, so be careful as you avoid the tornados.

Recommended Actions and Tips

It's recommended that you complete all the Song of the Elves quests, and have at least 85 combat level. The Rigour Prayer spell is also pretty necessary for this minigame. You might also want to unclutter your screen, as you have to watch out for incoming enemies or just for scouting out the rooms. The boss fight also needs some weapon and prayer switching, so it would be more optimal if you can re-map your F keys to the number keys.

For the minigame proper, have a plan. Gather up the materials you need for two tier-3 weapons and a full set of armor (doesn't have to be fully upgraded). That means you should know which creatures drop which items you need for upgrades.

Armors don't increase your damage, so it's not worth it to upgrade them. You should still craft a set since a little protection is better than nothing. It will also reduce your need for potions and fish. Drop the items you don't need for more space. You'll need some paddlefish or potions to survive the boss battle. On that note, you may want to decant your potions to make them last a little longer. Don't use your teleport seed until you're ready to battle the boss!

Count Hunllef's attacks, so you can time your weapon and prayer switches.

The Corrupted Gauntlet strengthens the creatures within it, but your crafted equipment does not get any boosts.

The Rewards

Defeating the Crystalline/Corrupted Hunllef rewards you with a chest. The most valuable item you can get is the Blade of Saeldor. While it's not a very popular weapon, it's worth at least a hundred million OSRS gold. You can also get Crystal Weapon or Armor Seeds, which are worth 2m or 5m respectively on the AH. Completing the Corrupted version of the minigame for the first time will award you with the Gauntlet Cape. That's a good haul for any OSRS money making wannabe! Or even someone who would like to sell OSRS gold.

So go out and try the Gauntlet. It may take a few tries to be consistent at completing it, but practice makes perfect! Have fun!
