eSports News
() 05:21 PM EDT - Apr,06 2018

eSports is really allowing 2018 to shape up to be its ‘year’. For the first time ever, we have two similar games competing with each other in the eSports world (PUGB and Fortnite), and we have a brand-new card game set to launch later this year. Well, we say brand new, Magic the Gathering Arena is based upon the most popular trading card game of all time. This is bound to snatch some players from the dominating Hearthstone. Basically, if you are a lover of competitive gaming, you are not going to be disappointed.

Before you hop on over to your favourite website for some eSports betting online, we suggest that you take a browse through the latest news from the world of eSports, just so you have a bit of an idea about what the latest developments are.

Formula 1 eSports League

While the F1 2017 eSports series didn’t gain that much traction last year, the 2018 iteration is shaping up to be tremendous. This year, all the Formula 1 teams (except Ferrari for some reason) have signed up to sponsor the tournament. The tournament will be a multi part tournament over the three platforms the game is being released on (Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC). The Formula 1 teams will then choose the best players to drive for them to compete for a $200,000 prize, last year snatched up by a British player.

If you love your Formula 1, then this is something that you will almost certainly want to bet on, mostly because the various teams are playing a huge role in the competition which gives it a completely new dynamic. It is worth checking out just for that. Toss a bet on a competitor. The odds are likely to be pretty decent due to the way the tournament is being run.

Clash Royale Investment

Bit of an odd one this one, mostly because mobile games don’t really scream ‘eSports’, particularly one as old as Clash Royale. Alas, there looks set to be some pretty big competition in this game as the year goes on, although you may struggle to find places to bet on it, mostly because of how niche it is.

Thirty-six major teams have signed up to the Clash Royale League Challenge. This number was whittled down from 25 million all the way to 7,000, all of whom will be drafted by huge teams. The rosters at the end of the day will end to the World Finals where they will compete to win $1,000,000. This is not shabby for a mobile eSports prize.

DoTA2 Keeping Up With Regular Patches

One of the biggest eSports around, alongside League of Legends. In the past, DOTA2 was getting a major patch every couple of months which really irritated a lot of players. You would spend an age perfecting how to play your favourite character in the game and they would end up being weakened completely, which meant you had to learn how to play them again.

Thankfully, the team at Valve have committed to pumping out regular patches for DOTA2. This means that the tweaks to gameplay will be minor. This is likely to have an impact on the eSports finals mostly because people will really be able to ‘learn’ a character.

While we are on the subject of DOTA2, Kyle Freedman of complexity has been removed from the roster due to personality clashes. It is unlikely that this will have any impact on major eSports tournaments as complexity have never really been up there as one of the main players. It may have an impact on smaller competitions though if that is the area you are planning to bet in.

We are about to head into Stage 3 of the Overwatch League Season 1. As you may have heard, New York Excelsior won Stage 2.

Honestly, with their record, you should be putting your money on them winning Stage 3 too. The only other team that I can really see coming close to New York Excelsior will be London Spitfire, but even then, they fell well short of the 1st place standing in the second round.

Remember; if you want to keep up to date with what is shaping up to be one of the more exciting eSports at the moment, then you should watch the matches every day between Wednesday and Saturday.

The top three teams will compete for a $125,000 prize at the end of the league.
