Le Mans 24 Hours|
(hx) 10:31 PM CEST - Jul,16 2002
Le Mans 24 Hours in an arcade racing game based on the very popular road racing circuit, allowing you to experience some of the worlds fastest cars on some of the worlds most demanding tracks. Maybe you still remember "Le Mans 24 Hours" game released in 1999 by the same publisher - Infogrames. But this is a brand new game developed by Australia's Melbourne House, this is a PS2 conversion, pure arcade game without damage engine. Le Mans 24 Hours features over 70 licensed cars from the official Le Mans competition (all LMP, LMPTR, GTS, GTR, and GT2 classes are all covered), 12 real-world tracks including the American track of "Petit Le Mans" and of course the world famous "Le Mans 24 Hours" circuit itself. You can choose from five challenging modes: "Quick Race" that allows you to race any car on any circuit you have unlocked, "Championship mode" that puts you through eight different championships where you have win in order to open up the next championship and earn new cars, "Le Mans mode" recreates the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans race (you race for a full twenty-four hours or you can select compacted race lengths of 10, 24, or 240 minutes - in these cases the day/night cycles and weather patterns will be accelerated), "Multiplayer mode" (only split screen) and "Time Trial mode". Although this game looks more like very mediocre console port with dated graphics, poor sound, clumsy interface and ridiculous physics engine, I found the racing action to be good and pretty competitive. I wouldn't recommend this game for gamers who prefer real car simulation, but those who want race without real driving skills, it's quite good game, only you need to adopt an unusual driving style.
snd: 2/5 - acceptable for an arcade racing game, car sounds are unrealistic, music isn't anything special
gfx: 3/5 -
pretty dated, some nice ambient lighting, realistic weather effects, circuits are nicely rendered, no rearview mirrors, physics engine is ridiculous, no damage
playability: 3/5 -
very good playable, competitive, no real driving skills were required, ability to make pit stops to change tires and add fuel, multiplayer mode offers only split screen, no LAN/Internet, clumsy interface, limited options. no sense of speed

|take a look at infogrames feedback forum; it is full of complaints regarding poor steering response. A game is something you purchase to play. You cannot play Le Mans 24 Hrs.|

|I think the graphic looks pretty good.
What is wrong? The sceenery?
Grand Turismo 3 look's just the same in the sceenery section...|

|While observing the first few screenshots it looked okay, but when i reached the second pic on the fifth row, i totally understood why many think that the graphics are average. the textures are "flat" with no lighting and gloss effects on the cars. |

|Steering response is very slow and this fault ruins the game for the PC. At night , the graphics are quite good with lighting reflected by wet pavement and also weather effects are good(rain). When Infogrames admits there is a problem with steering response and fixes this, the game will be excellent.|

|I won't specify but this game is really bad, the developer thinks that the gamers are stupid enough to play this low-standart-bad-racing-game, news for them-we won't!!|
