Kingdom Under Fire is a new RTS/RPG hybrid, developed  surprisingly by a Korean-based development team, Phantagram. Certainly it's always a bit risky to mix multiple genres together into one big melting pot, but Phantagram has shown their abilities and made this very interesting game. Kingdom Under Fire details the epic battles on the continent of Bersiah, where the Race of Light (Humans and Elves) and the Race of Darkness (Orcs and Ogres) coexist in a heavy cloud of suspicion and hostility. Their battles for life and domination are rooted in the primordial conflict between two gods, Amoth and Tobied, and have been waged since the dawn of history. Kingdom Under Fire includes two totally unique and independent races, Light and Dark, 70 (wow!) unique characters, each with strong special abilities (using combinations of these characters, various tactics and strategies can be developed and deployed),  7 Hero characters for Hero-mode and multi-player games (Rick Blood, Armarua, Likuku, Richter the Righteous, Keither, Currian, Moonlight), 3 types of resources: gold, iron, and mana and various strategies using magicians and other magic units by controlling mana resources, Holy Ground Concept, a type of Magic Point Resource and different modes of multi-player games. In addition the game includes 20 missions each for Light and Dark races, and 7 story missions for each Hero character, and also 20 minutes of in-game cinematic movies. The game features 6 sets of background schemes, backgrounds for dungeons with modulation light effects, realistic and lively animations, light effects on backgrounds, and shadows of characters, color light overlays, overall, more advanced light effect than that of C&C2, magic effects utilizing lights and alpha-blending, fog effects, colored fog, and more smoother outlines, dynamic light effect - each unit lit by advanced color lighting, other special visual effects like, displacement map effects, lightning bolt effects and much more. The supported resolution is 640x480 and 800x600, depend how fast is your computer, 800x600 mode needs at least Pentium II 233. While most others games trying to impress gamers with 3D graphics,   Kingdom Under Fire uses a more traditional top-down view, with only 2D-rendered sprites, but with 120,000 frames of animations and dynamic colored lighting effects, map displacement effects, colored fog effects and others not seen in other 2D RTS games. Well I've liked to play this game, Kingdom Under Fire looks to be very addictive. If you've liked Diablo and Startcraft, Kingdom Under Fire is something between them.
