Its just typical these days.
They release a product, it works great.
Then when your all happy with it they remove features.
Then keep removing features and blaming it on other things.

Microsoft are GREAT at removing features.
For me their worst move was SNAP on XboxOne.
I had the console for 2 weeks and loved it. They removed snap and I returned the console to the store.
That was the 1 feature keeping me from returning that console.
Took me 1.5 years to buy another xboxone.
Their stupidity. They keep saying they will bring it back for the Xbox Series X but its still not here and its still a wanted feature by many who miss it.

PS5 has a very similar feature thats quietly kept silent and very limited.
You can view websites in the side just like SNAP did but you cant play videos at all.
SNAP let you use ANY app or game on the side or split screen.
So you could actually play 2 games at once if you wanted.
I played a game and had FOXTEL streaming in SNAP on the side.

Now on the PS5 I'm waiting for their snap feature to enable videos so I can watch PLEX while playing.
I think you can get some youtube videos working? So a walkthrough for the game your playing can play snapped to the side if the game.

Back to the main part. Yea, its typical for them to remove features. Like I said M$ are very good at removing features people want. WMC is another feature thats so awesime I now refuse to update windows as I cant live without it. Its so good on a touch screen and just about everything these days is touch screen its just the best player there is. Expecitally with a TV Tuner.
BUT M$ killed that off. It was in Windows 8 but a paid addon.
In Windows 10 its completely gone.
BUT there is a hacked version going around which sortof works.
I couldnt get the tv tuners to work properly but for playing anything else it works a treat.

AND about the sleep problem...
I see my Surface Pro 5 turn on all the time then off again, power or battery it doesn't matter. Anytime day or night if its in sleep mode it will turn itself on, do something then turn off again. Its a battery drain. If I leave it on it doesn't drain the battery as quick as this sleep mode does.
I prefer to SHUTDOWN to stop this from happening and actually save some battery. But even in shutdown mode its still a battery drain for some unknown reason? Its a small drain but its still there. Maybe 1% overnight.
Sleep mode isn't sleep mode. its screen off but still working in the background enough to drain the battery quicker than in full power mode.

They REALLY need to fix this. Its been a problem since Windows 7 and still a problem in Windows 11 but as they removed all the work arounds and fixes its now worse than it was.

I went for Linux with Kodi on top for media center.
Windows 10 never really shuts down. Hence the constant drain.
There's nothing else I can add to your post.
MS, Apple, they all have their shortcomings.
You choose the lesser evil.
