Even my ancient I5-3570K, still plays all my games no problem @1920x1080 along with my EVGA GTX 1060 SC 6gb and ASUS RoG Maximus V Gene mobo. He’ll I ain’t fussy. Over on steam there’s tons players with the latest-and-greatest CPU that can’t pull the jumper off the back of ETS2 - along with Titan GPU and it’s like, I’m getting more FPS than them with full settings, same for UBoat and plenty others. |

That's because games require single core CPU and a good GPU.
Even a 4core CPU is an overkill for most games. |

That depends if you want to play indie or big budget games. 4 core is pretty much the baseline these days. Also, it's better to overkill with a CPU rather than risk bottle necking your graphics card, which these days tends to cost more than buying a house. |
