The problem is that when you introduce annoying crap like eating, drinking, sleeping and worrying about cold, you add boredom and drudgery.

All those things are boring in real life, too. I mean, yes, eating is enjoyable but the mechanics of it isn't. Cooking, cleaning, all those boring things are not in games for a specific reason - because they're boring as shit.

The whole point of escaping to a fantasy world where you're powerful and successful is to escape from real life, where most of us aren't - or at least, aren't powerful. That's why it's stupid to make a hard game with lots of boring maintenance like eating and drinking. It's not what people want.
