It happens for almost everything.
When something enters in Europe the price is "magically" adjusted with a +30%. Automobiles, consumer electronics, you name it.
And it doesn't matter if the item is coming from USA, Japan or elsewhere.
When the local currencies were weaker than US dollars, import something was painful because US dollar was stronger.
Now that the Euro is a lot stronger than US dollar, import something is still painful against any logic simply because the final user pays for it 30-60% more than the original price in US dollars.
Way to go. |

$49.95 USD = £23.74 (*£1 GBP = 2.10443 USD) + 17.5% VAT = £4.15
£23.74 + £4.15 = £27.89 Total
btw 31.99 EUR = 22.3021 GBP
In other words buy from a store which should retail at around £30 or download a pirated version choice is yours, i know which i'd choose. |
