ActionTrip has written a new preview of Microsoft's MechCommander 2, based on playing a beta version of the game.
In short, MechCommander 2 is a kick ass 3D RTS game set in the BattleTech Universe. From what I've played of the game so far, this one promises to be a keeper. The gameplay is dynamic and it's highly addictive, and the programmers did an excellent job at making sure MC2 is not 'just another RTS game'. MechCommander 2 has the look and feel of a true Mech game. It's definitely like MechWarrior, but on a strategic scale. A lot of neat features are available to the player, like calling in the air support, and salvaging all kinds of mech. The pilots' stats progress in an RPG like system as you go from one mission to another, which certainly adds another dimension to the game's level of addictiveness.
