MechCommander 2 Interview - interview
|
| (hx) 03:07 AM CEST - Apr,29 2001 |
Microsoft may be putting a lot of effort into the upcoming release of their first console, but if GameStock was any indication, they still have a lot of plans for PC gaming. One of the PC titles shown this year was the sequel to MechCommander. Utilizing an entirely new engine, benefits from strides in modern PC gaming, as well as a few new ideas, MechCommander 2 could end up as the most impressive tactical strategy title of 2001. Gaming Age got a chance to pick the brain of MechCommander’s Producer, Mitch Gitelman.
GA: The sequel introduces some new mech designs never before seen in MechCommander, most taken from MechWarrior 3 and 4, can we expect any other new material from the universe?
Mitch: The team created 4 all-new 'Mechs for MechCommander 2--the Razorback, the Lao Hu, the Sha Yu, and the Anubis. Descriptions of these new BattleMechs have already made their way into paper and pencil BattleTech support products.
GA: What is the primary role of the player? What kinds of options are available before, after, and during missions?
Mitch: As a mercenary MechCommander, the player follows the orders of his current employer. As the situation on Carver V changes, the employers change as well.
