|
| (hx) 02:54 PM CET - Dec,01 2002 |
That's right, after 6 long months and the commitment of > 20 volunteers,
the
remake of "Secret Base", the first level from the Lucas Arts game
Dark Forces, has been recreated in all the glory the
Jedi
Outcast engine allows. Weighing in at just under 30 MB, the
demo is available in a single file for broadband users, or three seperate files
for modem users, The demo contains Complete Secret Base map, Extra features in
the map to take advantage of the modified Quake 3: Team Arena engine found in
JKII, brand new textures re-created from scratch by professional texture
artists, new Kyle Katarn Skin, New Imperial Commando NPC, other new models,
brand new in-engine cutscenes, professionaly rendered .mp3 music tracks of the
original MIDI music found in Dark Forces, new sound effects, new GUI Front End
Menu system, modified weapon models and fire modes on the Bryar Pistol and Storm
Trooper Rifle, much, much more!
After 3 long months of development,
ProMod 3.0 (download
772kb) has finally been released!
ProMod 3.0 is the
first class based mod for
Jedi
Outcast. This dynamic classing system allows you to choose between a Jedi,
who specializes in Force Powers, a Gunner, who's forte is the use of projectile
weapons and gadgets like the new jetpack, or a custom Hybrid class that allow
you to mix the abilities of both.

But Jedi Outcast couldn't hold my interest longer than a day. It's another Raven franchise quickie. With so many FPS games under the belt since Dark Forces, there's the feeling we've seen all this before, the same old linear gameplay, plus the tired Star Wars universe looks too familiar. So reviving the old level in this new bland product....bleh. | |

| Comments from NOTHING | posted - 06:53 AM CET - Dec,02 2002 | | Do ya think we are getting too desensitized to 3D action gaming? Been there....seen that...done that...etc
I haven't had much fun with games in awhile except maybe BF1942...yet I still go back to CS to pop a few multiplay sessions. Gotta agree with V1ctor about JK2 not holding my interest....same run and shoot, though it did make better use of the sabre, especially throwing it ala boomerang. I only wished the light saber movements would have had the mechanics as in the old PC game called DIE BY THE SWORD. | | The old comment system has been replaced. Use the regular FORUMS!
