 FireStarter Interview - interview
(hx) 12:28 AM CEST - Apr,17 2002
3D Action Planet has posted an interview with GSC Gameworld's Slava Klimov as he talks about their upcoming sci-fi first-person shooter - Firestarter. They want to release the first public demo on E3 show, the final version should be finished on 2002/Q4 or maybe a bit later. Here is a snip:
3DActionPlanet: You've said before that FireStarter's gameplay is action-focused. Does this mean that we're in store for some Serious Sam style gameplay?
Slava Klimov: Not exactly. As I have already told, unlike other games of the Action-genre, the victory condition in FireStarter is not to pass a level from point A to point B. Instead, through trial and error a player finds an optimal movement route for each level and character, securing a constant supply of health and ammo. That is, the game itself provides a certain tactical part. Again, we ventured an experiment by including RPG elements to an action game, which is quite unusual here.
