Ubisoft cancels Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake and more as part of company-wide reset - briefly|
| (hx) 06:49 PM CET - Jan,22 2026 | Ubisoft has canceled six games as part of a thorough review of its content pipeline, including the 2026-due Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake, four unannounced titles—three being new intellectual properties—and a mobile game.
Alongside this, Ubisoft has said it will allocate additional development time to seven games in order to ensure enhanced quality benchmarks are fully met and maximize long-term value creation. This includes an unannounced title originally planned for release in fiscal year 2026, that has now been delayed to fiscal year 2027.
All of this is part of a major organization, operational, and portfolio reset at Ubisoft that aims to “reclaim creative leadership and restore sustainable growth.” The reset includes canceling and delaying multiple projects, closing or restructuring studios, accelerating cost reduction, and resetting short-term financial expectations to prioritize long-term quality, profitability, and cash generation.
Ubisoft shares plunged over 30% following a "major company reset," leaving its market value under €600 million, as discussed in gaming communities. This volatility aligns with Euronext data showing prior closes around €6.63 and analyst targets ranging €7.10-€21.30, though sentiment leans cautious with 53% buy ratings.

That will give them more sales.

In case you’ve forgotten.
Steam owns fuck all, takes 30% of every game sold on steam from the developers/publishers. *That’s* why games are expensive-along with wage increase's and lack of sales.
UBI,Rockstar et al *own* their games (IPs) , not fat fuck Gabe. If we kept physical copies and screwed steam over, we wouldn’t be in this shit hole!
Btw here’s some news to make you weep -or not the case may be.
We have generations grown up thinking Steam is their friend and it’s not DRM and they are so fucking thick they think they own the games they buy.
I don’t know how old you are, but when HL2 came out we returned the game in droves to the shops (opened and installed) it was on the news as well. Why? Because it was the first software released with Steam mandatory install to *play a game - HL2.
Then the rot set in and generations of Americans and ultimately children of Europe thought it normal to no longer buy games physically.
quote: Steam generated an estimated over $16.2 billion in gross revenue for 2025, with some reports suggesting it could reach $17 billion, marking significant growth from 2024; December 2025 was its highest-grossing month ever, exceeding $1.6 billion, driven by huge holiday sales and high player counts. While overall revenue soared, many of the nearly 19,000 games released that year struggled, with almost half receiving fewer than 10 reviews, highlighting the platform's massive volume and market saturation.
Gross megalomaniac Newell also bought a new 500 million $$ new yacht to go with his umpteen others with his 30% cut off of games he doesn’t even make or own and neither do you.

RIP effing Ubisoft at this point.

I give fuck-all about Gabe or his ships. The guy is a fucking idiot.
But guess what. He was in the right place at the right time.
He owns that company, he made hisself a nice boat.
Same as Elon - he's even worse because he does go public with his stupid statements.
If your were in his place, I'm sure you'd do the same - I know I would buy something totally useless just to show I have the money, too.
Build a data center for myself so I can run Doom in bazillion*megazillion resolution.
That's the point of money.
And, money seems to bring out the worst in man.
Well, at least in some parts of the world - I have not heard about billionaires doing such shit in Europe; maybe they are smarter about it.
Anyway, Gabe making a ship is like Elon making hisself a spaceship; a man needs a hobby.
The industry - well, the entire world - went tits up, all prices are out of proportion and Trump does fuck-all to put Putin back in his place.
He's setting hisself, his family and his corporate buddies up for the next 50 years.
It appears he does not care about people, not even in his own country.
It surprises me the regular american can't see that. How can they support a leader like this???
Seems to me he's hell bent on single-handedly destroying what people (in the world) have built over the past 50 years - and he expects a peace price for it? lol
Anyhow, the rich gets richer, the poor gets poorer everywhere - the recipe for World War III.
If you think I'd buy anything on Steam at full price, you are mistaken.
A stupid video game and DLCs are not worth that much money.
I'd never buy anything below 75% discount and I always buy the full pack then.
I could not buy games lately on Steam because they only put the base game on sale - so I just wait.
I am in no hurry to spend my money.
If they don't need it now, that's fine.
It is hard-earned money.
Sorry, I had to get it out of my system.
