As promised yesterday, the playable demo (~292MB local mirror) for Shadow Ops: Red Mercury is now available offering the chance to try out the PC edition of Atari's first-person shooter. The demo includes a single player mission located in Syria, where you battle terrorist forces while destroying anti-aircraft emplacements. The 292 MB demo can also be found on 3DGamers, FileFront, FileShack, WP, Filerush, GH,, 3D Downloads, FilePlanet.

In related news, Atari sent out a press release announcing that they are working "closely with AMD to develop Shadow Ops: Red Mercury, the cinematic interactive blockbuster that first appeared on the Xbox in June, for personal computer using AMD's advanced AMD Athlon 64 series of simultaneous 32- and 64-bit processors. The 64-bit version of the game will be included with the 32-bit version and will allow for improved textures, better image quality, faster game performance and an enhanced gameplay experience."
