(hx) 10:48 AM EDT - Jul,03 2002 - Post a comment / read (13)
Philos Entertainment released the promised playable demo of Imperium Galactica III: Genesis, their soon-to-be-released space strategy game. The demo weighs 65MB and contains one mission from the full game and "was especially developed for use with the new Matrox Parphelia graphics card, but also runs on any other modern 3D graphics accelerator board." and is available for download from Hardwired (Hungarian site), 3DGamers, Tiscali Games, HC Gamer.

This has a mission in it? Where? From what I downloaded, it's just a non-interactive demo of two fleets blowing the crap out of each other in an asteroid field.

at least it runs for you... My version starts then quits.

Thats the Movie option Caelistis , try the other option , then u can see for urself the mission is impossible !! its like 5 cruisers and a battleship (enemy) against ur own 1 crap carrier , 2 cruisers , 2 recons

The Game is crap!!! pure and simple. MY guns don't fire at all. The Demo is imcomplete and shit. The Graphics are good, but everything else is completely a piece of crap...even worse then ig2. On ig2, the races just attack you the moment they have 1% chance of winning you.

Kirby , the reason the weapons dont fire is cause u have to activate them LOL , I dont think u can win in this demo , much to difficult

Well, if that is the case, then they aren't really making the game look good. (gameplay wise) I like Imperium Galactica 2, but the races just attack you without reason and that puts me off of the game. I have to cheat and give myself 1,000,000,000 and have 100 Battleships full armed for them to like me. If they have 1 fighter more then me or 1 tank more then me or even $1 more then me, they attack.

If this is what the space based RTS real time genre has come down to, then God I can't wait for Homeworld 2 or Master of Orion 3. This, just like IG2, is all show and no go. Who cares if you're pretty if your gameplay blows the donkey's dripping, infested ass? (Yes, it's a play on words. A pun, if you will)

Jamie Kirbyposted - Jul, 03 2002 - 20:26
well, i like a game where there is a 50/50 chance on winning. But all the Empire Building games expect for Masters of Orion 2 are just basicly, crush, kill, destroy. I just wish that they would make it more realistic gameplay wise. an alien race that has advanced technology wouldn't just want to get to war. They would prefer Peace to war....well, except the Kra'hen. now that race is evil. lol

Caelistisposted - Jul, 03 2002 - 22:29
Jamie, Have you ever played Homeworld? There was a game that took some serious tactical thinking if you wanted to preserve your fleet and resources as best as possible as you, the player, were ALWAYS the underdog. However, I would disagree with your statement in regards to an alien race with advanced technology. More than likely, they would be as xenophobic as humans UNLESS their technology was so evolved to the point as rendering ours entirely useless.

well, i guess you are right......but how about, on IG2, say the Antarians meet you for the first time and because they have 1 fighter more or 1 laser more or even 1 fighter more then you, they attack, even if you are significantly more advanced then them. Then straight after the defeat of their forces, they immediately ask for peace! like a pu**yboy. lol I wish they weren't so easy to get pissed off. PS: Homeworld sucked, controls and gameplay were rather shitty.

Ok guys this is the spiel from the official site. It's NOT an official release -hence why it wont work on other cards. The manual is downloadable for it also at just over 155kb 05.07.2002: Imperium Galactica 3 demo - Important information A demo version of Imperium Galactica 3 has initially been posted on an Hungarian website and has been spread throughout the web. This version has been specifically designed for the Matrox Parhelia graphics card. CDV did not give out this demo and advises to abstain from using it for covermount or other press related services, as it does not run properly on other graphic cards. We are currently working on a new version, which will be made available in the next few days. Nevertheless CDV wants to share the manual with everybody who already downloaded and commenced the demanding demo mission! Beat the enemy spaceships and finish your mission! We are looking forward to your feedback!

Who the hell has made this game? It seems as if he forgot to release the full version for the past 4 years. IG2 was a crappy one and I think this one is crappy too. No not download this game.

Rohit Chaojiposted - Mar, 21 2006 - 06:07
Downloading this game is a waste of 65 MB on your hard-disk. You will regret downloading the demo and even if the full game is ever released, you will end up fighting for the money you paid for buying the game. In IG2, you had crap things like all races have the same currency and speak the same language. And people revolted if you did not build a stadium for your colonies. This game is only related to space battle.(Frankly speaking, I haven't played it yet.) I live in India and none of the IG's were released in India.
