Casino Tycoon (hx) 08:24 PM CET - Jan,12 2002
Casino Tycoon is a management sim that combines class "Tycoon" game and gambling, developed by Seattle-based developer Cat Daddy Games ( Ski Resort Tycoon 2
and Golf
Resort Tycoon). The game allows you to build the casino of your dreams with all the casino games: Roulette, Black Jack, Craps, Keno, Poker. You have look after your clientele by watching the indicators such as satisfaction, honesty, appetite, health, to maximize your profits and run the competition out of town. You can run eleven different professions, from the cocktail waitress to the entertainers via the security guard. The game is a lot like most tycoon games - just another "Tycoon" game for gamblers who don't want gamble...
snd: 3/5 - quite ok gfx: 3/5 -
good, well done 3D camera - nice zoom playability: 3/5 -
quite good, boring for people who don't like casinos, no multiplayer

You just KNOW these developers are selling theirselves cheaply, making me to add their company to my ignorelist for further new games. |

HOWEVER I have found two very serious drawbacks... first, in the early stages of the game your money drops WAY too fast and pretty much forces you to run a 'slot joint' for a long time, which is NOT how most casinos are developed. Second, as with most other 'tycoon' games of this type you have to micromanage the cleanup of litter or your game gets ruined. I play to enjoy the game, not spend all my time trying to get a character to pick up a piece of paper |

That game was the cream of the crop and I am very surprised that it never came out with a sequel or anything. Most people don't know about the game, but it was awesome. You walked around and worked with the mafia while opening restaurants, creating your own recipes and making sure guests were happy. You had to do research on the community and you'd either buy/rent a business. The game took months to complete and the farther you get, the harder it gets... |
