Paris-Dakar Rally is pretty popular in my country, maybe you know popular Czech drivers Karel Loprais, Josef Kalina and Petr Hamerla with Tatra T 815-2. If you don't know much about this rally event, so each year, the world's bravest drivers come together to compete in this rally, a grueling 7,000 mile trek across every imaginable terrain. They do battle in trucks, cars, motorbikes and ATVs, all striving for the honour of being called the ultimate off-road champion. However it must be hell to drive cars trough  sand&dust. In Paris-Dakar Rally Broadsword Interactive (developer known for their Spirit of Speed 1937) has recreated 300km (186 miles) of the terrain from Paris, France to Dakar, and Senegal in North West Africa, in 12 stages each over 25km long.  And multiple routes will allow you  to select the best path through the terrain. You can choose from motorcycles, dune buggies, and other 4x4 vehicles to overcome obstacles like collapsed bridges, falling rocks, falling trees, sandstorms, and challenge in Time Attack, Arcade or Campaign modes. That everything sounds good, but most important thing  is always playability. Unfortunately Paris-Dakar Rally is not much, the first "bad surprise" is screen resolution, though you can choose up to 1600x1200 in option menu, I wasn't able to run game in better resolution than 640x480 :( Also my friends told me about the same problem with this game, so it looks like very nasty bug. Anyway even at 640x480 (I don't believe the game will look diametrically better in higher resolutions in case they fix this bug) the game graphics looks like very bad conversion from PS2. In addition, the game is not realistic, the controls are too sensitive and, engine sounds very weird. The game has very good idea, but playability is quite poor. I got headache from repetitive music after 30 minutes of playing. So what more to say here? Sorry Acclaim, but I'm sure that most gamers will rather play Motocross Madness 2 and Colin McRae 2. The playable demo is not available yet.
