Green Berets
(hx) 02:14 AM CEST - Aug,14 2001

Green Berets is a squad-based tactical strategy game (Myth 2 add-on) set in the treacherous jungles of Southeast Asia. You probably seen Green Berets in movies, so know well, who they are. Yeah, they are dedicated volunteers, who braved unlimited dangers behind enemy lines to rain destruction upon the forces of Viet Cong and North Vietnamese Armies. How I said, Green Berets is a tactical game, that mean there is no resource management - no buildings, no gold or wood to collect, and nothing to research. Everything you have are your soldiers which are immediately at your disposal. It's up to you to carefully plan your surgical strike, blast your way through enemy camps, or sneak deep behind enemy lines. You must destroy radio towers, defend bases, sabotage enemy communications, seek and destroy enemy supply dumps, or eliminate high-ranking VC officers etc. Green Berets features 10 dynamic missions through rice paddies, underground tunnels, rivers, and other detailed terrain, secure landing zones with M16 gunners, Huey Helicopters, and medics (over 18 units in all), M60's, grenade launchers, med kits, and explosive charge, and map editor that includes everything you need to create your own levels, units, objects, multiplayer maps and more. In addition, Green Berets offers a bounty of multiplayer options including, King of the Hill, Capture the Flag, Body Count and more. Well, now most important thing - gameplay. Green Berets isn't bad idea, but this game could be more successful 2 years ago. Now the game looking a little ancient (old Myth2 engine), camera is clumsy and interface kinda sucks. Yeah I played better games this year - excuse me, am not MYTH2 fan... Because it's an add-on to Myth II: Soulblighter, you will need the original game released 2 years ago. Fortunately Myth II: Soulblighter is part of Green Berets package, so you don't need to buy this old game. It's not bad deal - two games for twenty bucks.

snd: 2/5 - not much
