Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal
(hx) 04:40 AM CEST - Jul,07 2001

While Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal (BG2: Throne of Bhaal) is being marketed as an expansion pack, it really is almost a full game onto itself. "In the expansion set to Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn continue your quest and conclude the epic saga. Even if you have completed Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn, return and discover the mysteries of a dangerous new dungeon - Watcher's Keep. In addition, an exhilarating adventure unfolds when you explore new lands, battle fierce monsters and villains, and gain high-level abilities that bestow awesome powers.... "
BG2: Throne of Bhaal adds some new location on the existing map and delayed the fight with Sarevok. To be exact, the expansion adds three new chapters to the seven that comprised BGII, as well as a massive dungeon called Watcher's Keep that is accessible either from BGII or from the expansion. After you install it it merges with the original game and offers you two possibilities: you can play the adventure before or after the fight with Jan Irenicus. Certainly, this add-on pack will require installed BG2 on your computer (It's just only 1CD), but you can import your old characters and even add a new and challenging adventure to the original game.
In addition, BG2: Throne of Bhaal features powerful new spells like Wish and Bigby's Hand Spells as your character climbs as high as 40th level with an experience point cap of 8 million, gain amazing high-level abilities: new combat feats for fighters, deadly new traps for thieves, special quest spells for clerics and 9th level spells for mages, a new character kit, the Wild Mage and much more. The game is fairly long, with about 40-50 hours worth of gameplay (only the new dungeon will take you at least 15-20 hours). What else to say...It's really the best expansion pack what I've ever played, and a fitting end to the Baldur's Gate saga. The add-on is priced right, as low as $25, so if you're interested in how the story ends, go to buy it! :)

snd: 4/5 - Same as BG2, new cool soundtrack
gfx: 4/5 - Same as BG2, new spell effects are superb, the engine is pushed to the limits this time, slowdown in some of the larger battles :(
playability: 4/5 - More great Baldur's Gate-ness, interesting story, lots of AD&D monsters, extra difficult throughout, a few bugs
genre: RPG
platform: PC, 1CD
release: June 2001
developer: BioWare
publisher: Interplay
Excellent
Overall: 91%

The Expansion pack is very much like the Baldurs Gate 1, but don't take me wrong here: - BG1 is not as complex, and what the developers did do is scale down the BG2 "regular-complex-shit" to a minimum of "find-that-thing-to-do-that-ting"... really, the expansion have the action from IWD (Icewind Dale) and the GO-GO-GO from Baldurs Gate... I have gone and done this baby in all the holes and I am impressed how much she gives. Som players maybe only do it "one way" in the regular hole, but if you try anal/oral you really get a NEW feeling i.e. PLAY as a BAD and NEUTRAL guy an NEW options opens up, DO IT!!! Anyhow, if the Diablo 2: lord of destruction was as good as this baby, then no dick in the universe would hang, all would stand in salute, and one thing for sure: BlacK Isle know HOW to present a chick like this! Go and get it!!! :)
