X-Com Enforcer
(hx) 04:29 PM EDT - May,08 2001

X-Com Enforcer is a 3rd-person arcade shooter that puts you against a horde of extraterrestrial forces, fortunately with poor AI :) Don't expect much of a story, rather move forward, kill enemies and repeat until done. While cleansing the levels of the alien menace, players will scrounge around for new technologies and hidden letters to unlock bonus minigames. The game features over 35 missions of nonstop shooting, experience the power of the Unreal Tournament engine, over 20 alien species, various weapons and an abilities to research and upgrade weapons and power-ups to increase your firepower. In addition you can play it online with fast-paced cooperative and deathmatch multiplayer. X-Com Enforcer might come as a real shock for die-hard fans of the X-COM strategy games, no more a tactical combat that made X-COM popular in the first place. The game utilizes Unreal engine, so it's hard to make it look bad :) The graphics are decent with colorful environments, the framerates are solid, but textures are not very detailed. How I mentioned, it's not a first-person shooter, instead it's from a locked third-person isometric perspective with not much well done camera. The controls are extremely simple, you can run and jump in any direction, and you can shoot. X-Com Enforcer is a great fast-paced action game with lots of missions and multiplayer options, if you like arcade shooting it's game for you. Only I have no idea why this game is called "X-Com" - it's more likely to piss off the hardcore X-Com fans than suck them in. X-Com Enforcer site currently offers three death match maps for download (this site requires Flash 4.0).

snd: 3/5 - Nothing outstanding
gfx: 4/5 - Very colorful and stylish, tons of monsters on screen at once, some of the animation is a little bit off, camera sucks
playability: 3/5 - Straightforward controls, 35 missions, 15-20 hours of nonstop shooting, multiplayer deathmatch is boring
genre: 3rd-person arcade shooter
release: April 2001
developer: Micropose
publisher: Infogrames

I totally agree with the ratings. There's not much special about this game nor not much bad about it(maybe the multiplay, which I havn't tried). I did finished the game tho, some of the maps tried to be a little different and there were a couple little twist in between. I personally like the blade gun a lot, I could almost run over anything without getting hit and rack up all the points...heh. After all, a good game for a boring afternoon.

Well what a waste of time that game was, they at leadst could of made it a FPS and made it a little better :( It made me feel like i was playing on a PSX or something like that. What a waste of a UT engine

I felt the same, it looked like a consol game... It's good when I'm tired and not capable to think... An FPS with team work (and clever AI) would have been better.

NO NO BUY SOMETHINGposted - May, 21 2001 - 21:17
X-COM ENFORCER TOTALLY SUCKS DON'T BUY IT. I did and got bored of it in 2 hours. Its too easy. And the game play is so lame. This game is like a 1990's super nintendo game except with modern graphics. ITS A TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT. SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE BUT TRIBES 2 OOOOO THAT LOOKES GOOD. FOR ME ANYWAY.
