Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2
(hx) 10:47 PM CEST - Oct,25 2000

Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 retains the 2D isometric view of the other C&C games, sports the familiar interface and has the same number of units as the previous Red Alert. Its possible to say that Red Alert 2 is the next step up in the evolution of real-time military strategy games. The game has been made extra flexible by giving the player the ability to combine units and use them in new and different combinations, making the potential to create new strategies and tactics almost unlimited. The game features modified version of the 2D Tiberian Sun engine, which has been enhanced to support resolutions up to 1024x768, a storyline the continues the alternate reality of Red Alert, new units, structures and vehicles that will be able to be used in unison to unlock special abilities, better gameplay balance between the Allies and Soviets, new planning mode, new Tab Interface System and Advanced Command Bar and Battle across American soil and well known landmarks such as the Statue of Liberty. Another interesting addition to the game is the ability to capture and use neutral buildings for your own purpose. In the solo campaign, you have to choose what side of the war to fight on, if Allied or Soviet, with roughly a dozen missions each. There are many fights in interesting locations such as D.C., New York, Florida, Illinois and Colorado. A single-player Skirmish mode is also available, against the game's AI. Although Red Alert 2 is a pretty old-fashioned game, the fans of the Command & Conquer universe and traditional RTS addicts won't be disappointed.
