Tachyon mixes the best elements of Wing Commander: Privateer, RPG and space action. I must say that the game has got the nice graphics engine and the huge size of the space stations. But Tachyon is different from most space sims because in Tachyon you select a misson and get paid for it when you sucessfully complete the objectives, and then you can refit your ship by purchasing new weapons and components.(its very similar to Privateer) Another difference from other space sims is the freedom of choice. Your character is a kind of mercenary fighter pilot, so you decide for yourself where you'll go, what jobs you'll take, and even whose side you're on. The second big difference between Tachyon and other space combat games is massive multiplayer support with Voice-Over-Net(built-in system for voice communication). Tachyon can accommodate max 128 players per arena via NovaWorld(free Internet-based server) and max 16 players via LAN. Tachyon supports 3D acceleration and allows players to reconfigure keyboard commands and joystick mappings.
