No AMD made image sharpening a thing (meh) so nVidia had to put it in there, it has been in there for some time. It's a waste of time.

Yeah, saw that AMD piece of junk in MechWarrior 5 - totally screwed up the game.

What do you mean by useless? Am I better of with adding my own ReShade?

I mean it's meant for streamers so the output gets a little bit better (slightly sharper, like unsharp mask if you know what that is) in the stream. You yourself look at sharpened image for no reason, you get the opposite of anti aliasing. Sort of. Useless really.

don't know about reshade, never got it to work when I thought I needed it. Usually just straight up didn't work so I didn't really use it except in GTA IV long time ago. I had mixed feelings about it. Makes certain things look better at the cost of making other things look worse. At least that's my take on it.

The only thing I use ReShade (or SweetFX) for is to filter out tint.
Some games have a gray, lilac, red or whatever kind of tint - across the entire screen, permanently - which I dislike.
So, I filter out that colour.
It often times makes the game look better, too (less washed out).

so, basically you disagree with highly skilled and payed graphic designer and what they imagined colors should look like. Well, at least you have that option Smile

That right! Very Happy
Question is, can nVidia's built-in stuff do that or do I have to use ReShade on the side anyway?

you could always change monitor colors in nvidia drivers but it would be global and not just tint.
But no. you can't do what you do via driver, I don't know where you got that idea Smile

They didn't integrate ReShade per se, but rather, you can toggle the Nvidia overlay and use their own hook called Freestyle which supports the use of ReShade FX filters.

Only in approved games, though.

It's only useful for multiplayer games that specifically ban the use of ReShade online, but for some reason allow Freestyle. I only use Freestyle for RDR2, and ReShade injection for everything else. Not many people are aware of this, but it is also possible to obtain a build of ReShade that allows unrestricted depth buffer access for online games.

It's good you can set the max frame rate now. You could do it in a more hacky fashion but it should be a setting, good for Nvidia.

When my monitor tops out at 75 and has Freesync, I don't want it higher than that, obviously.

Does that stick in every game?
I've been using RTSS to cap the framerate (to save power).

sticks in benchmarks too. RTSS was good, but I hated running extra services to do simple shit like fps cap.
