AMD has taken the process lead over Intel by fielding new 7nm processors that contain smaller and more densely-packed transistors than Intel's competing 14nm chips. The advantages of increased density come in the form of higher performance, better power efficiency, more cores, and more cache packed into a smaller area

it's a good CPU. BUT, it's NOT more power efficient, it draws a lot of power. It has more cores than competing intel, it costs a lot, it's not cheap by any means. It takes almost twice the threads to achieve what intel does with less threads pulling less power.

But let's just ignore all of the above because cheaper is cheaper, even when still overpriced, and faster is faster, even when it's logical since it has more threads.

Cons: If you're planning on building a new system from scratch with the Ryzen 9 3900X, you'll also want to invest in a new-quite expensive X570-based motherboard to take advantage of these increased speeds in the future.

pcie 4.0? meh, there still isn't a card that utilize pcie 3 fully, they can all run at 8x and you would never know the difference. As for nvme, all I see is them getting hotter for negligible performance increase.
What I am getting at, b450 is just fine really.

Still won't buy AMD. You know, every company I worked for has never used AMD.
