uot;Prey is not a sequel, it's not a remake, it has no tie with the original, uot; says Raphael Colantonio, president and creative director of Arkane Studios. So, then, what exactly is this newly announced game? The E3 2016 announce trailer gave a glimpse into the world that Arkane is creating for Prey, but since it

Yeah...
Because the developers who made Dishonored, Dark Messiah of Might & Magic, and Arx Fatalis couldn't possibly make a good game that just happens to share a name with an overrated on-rails shooter...
Right.
I did like the old Prey but come on...it wasn't as special as people seem to nostalgia it into being. The start in the bar was cool, the spirit world thingy was different and kinda cool, and oh wow it had upside down rooms and stuff...other than that it was a linear shooter. Big whoop.
The fact that the same folks making the Dishonored games are making this new Prey means it's got potential (if this one finally gets finished and released). |

From the little clips looks ok (cgi) and I don't mind these guys. They've done good work. Have to wait and see more. Wasn't a huge fan of the previous Prey game. Like Majnun says.. once you get passed the first little new things it was a ho-hum linear shooter that felt like Quake or Doom. |

To each his own. Prey is an old game today, yet, it's still better shooter than most "modern" shooters. And these guys did not choose to name it "Prey" by accident. They are counting on some sales and most hype being purely because of the name "Prey". |

Well if Prey was so good, why didn't they spit out more? I don't buy games based on hype. I'll wait until I see more. There is not enough here to judge it fairly. |

They were working on a sequel for 3 years but had too high ambitions. They lost funding. Human Head Studios wasn't big enough apparently. You can watch some of their early trailers for Prey 2. I guess in the end they just sold the rights over to Bethesda.
From wikipedia:

Prey has a Metacritic average of 83 and 79 on the PC and Xbox 360, respectively.[25] The game was highly praised for its graphics and gameplay. GameZone called the graphics "top notch",[27] while Play magazine[which?] called them "incredible".[28] GamerFeed lauded the gameplay system, calling it "nothing short of amazing", and concluding that "Prey has got everything anyone could want from a sci-fi shooter and more."[28] However, there was criticism directed at the multiplayer component, especially the fact that it only had two game modes. GamesRadar opined that the multiplayer "could have been much better if only there were more than two modes [and] a couple of maps small enough to play with less than five players."[29]
In October 2006, 3D Realms CEO Scott Miller announced that the game was a commercial success on both PC and Xbox 360 with combined 1 million copies sold worldwide to date.[30][31] Prey is ranked third on Game Informer's list of The Top 10 Video Game Openings.[32]
