it is going to be REALLY HARD to make something worthy of KOTOR series...It's like trying to make a successor to Bioshock(1)...it's just near-impossible because what these games had in common on release was:
- blast your mind with the opening story and graphics/visuals and sounds
- blast your mind with atmosphere and story telling
- deliver gameplay like a boss
so far only KOTOR2 and The Witcher 2 managed that. |

SWTOR is definitely a worthy successor to the KOTOR games insofar as visuals and storylines. That's both its greatest strength and greatest weakness. Leveling up and going through the storylines in this game is flat-out awesome, and doubly so if you can play with a friend or two.
Gameplay... well, it's an MMO. It's no more objectionable in that regard than any, there will always be an element of grind. Again, though, the stories usually make up for it.
It's once you've done the stories that the game stalls. End game in any MMO will be pretty much all grinding - that's where SWTOR dropped huge amounts of subscribers after release, people did the outstanding fully voiced stories on many/most characters and then suddenly there was just PvP and grinding out dungeons.
They've added a ton of content to it now though, and I think the game is seeing something of a resurgence. Old players coming back and resubbing and the like. Quality-wise it's still one of the finest MMO's on the market. |

how can a mmo with any aspect of grind except XP progression grind be worthy successor to KOTOR series, that was a single player game? MMO is not evolution, it's devolution. You can't really immerse yourself into the story and world if you are playing with a "friend or two", they are a distraction, not an asset. It's like saying watching porn with friends is better. o.O |
