didn't have any flash at the time screen shot was taken. I edited my last post. I can force to not use plugin container via about:config but by default - it is enabled.

Quote:
Hi RadRon, as the name implies, plugin-container.exe is used to run plugins. This was created around the time of Firefox 3.6.4 to isolate plugins from firefox.exe because they were responsible for a large percentage of Firefox crashes. Placing them in plugin-container.exe prevened misbehaved plugins from taking down your entire Firefox session (at least, in theory it should do that).

from mozzila staff...So, it's not for flash only obviously.

I think you are confusing extensions with plugins.
See if this helps.

I am saying that if you have firefox, you should have plugin container running by default. Extensions and plugins are not the same, but some get treated the same way and are being handled by plugin container for the aforementioned reasons. Flash is a plugin, so is Java. Do you want to tell me that you are not using sites that use Java? Flash? (banners, adds, etc). Plugin container should be runing when you start firefox with one tab - about:blank. That's it. You have it disabled, which is not default. I am not saying it is wrong or bad for you, I am just saying that is not default state. I had flash crash on me many times and with container disabled I have to restart the whole browser so I prefer to not disable Plugin Cunt. I don't mind 200-300mb, it's nothing and it's not hindering firefox's memory limit on 32bit since it's a separate process. Smile

You should read the text on that link more carefully.
Plugin container.exe starts only when a content plugin needs it.
I use flashblock and adblock, so no rubbish gets loaded by default for me.
Though flashblock is no longer needed on GameGuru - it stopped displaying all flash content a few weeks back.
