Firefox is planning a 64-bit browser

I know it's not very conservative with memory, but needing more than 4G sounds a bit excessive.

No other reason to go 64bit in a browser.

Windows 10's very different way of updating - It looks like Microsoft's next OS will bring with it a different way of updating as well. What do you think of the change?

The updates will be great, safe, secure, really care about your privacy, really interested in giving you the best features (like keyboard history shared with all interested M$ scum partners). Won't break anything, won't mess with any settings.. you will get to see wonderful new advertisement for shit you might also like adding, and best all they definitely won't gimp the updates so its not like you will need to get the next to fix the shit they broke the last update. etc ... it will be great and free, total freedom updates, won't cost a thing Very Happy

Yeah there is - the ASLR space is WAAAAY bigger, so stack smashing/buffer overflow bugs are mostly eliminated. Plus (I believe) DEP is mandatory for 64bit apps.

And that's before you get to potential speed benefits..

You do realize it's a browser, right? Not an OS.

Windows 10: 'Aero Glass' theme coming soon via simple mod - If you are still using Windows 7, there is a good chance that you are using 'Aero Glass'. The theme has been widely popular among enthusiasts over the years, and if you are running Windows 10, you will soon have the option to turn this theme back on. The chaps over at Glass8.eu are working diligently to release the tools needed to enable the theme. While their website makes it seem like the release of the files needed to enable the theme are not going to be available anytime soon, a post by the creator on MDL states that because there are "no large changes in Win10's DWM, you can expect Aero Glass for Win10 earlier than" previously expected. Like many modifications to Windows, you will need the UXStyle Themepatch to enable the feature but seeing that files have not been released yet, there is not much you can do at this time. Once the theme is available, we will write up a tutorial about how to enable 'Aero Glass' on Windows 10. And when the theme is ready for everyone to use, it will be "100% same as in Win7", according to those who are making it.
Adobe Ill

Why the fuck is anyone paying M$ then.. if there design department is so fucking shit, that other people are doing the work of making there OS look more appealing than the flat square shit that it has become.

few big tabs with lot's of content (flash, scripts, java etc + images, video and so on) can take up over 2GB and then you are screwed in 32bit browser since everything becomes sluggish, slow, unresponsive...I can make that happen just with few you tube videos open, and couple of regular sites that I have opened in tabs. Then I have to restart browser to clear the memory, or, use 64bit chrome and have no issues. IF mozzila had done like google did with chrome and had every tab had it's own process, then they wouldn't have to make 64bit browser since every tab would be able to allocate 2GB for itself, but they didn't so...

I love Firefox and that's my browser of choice, so there is no need to find excuse for bad programming. It is what it is; this is what you get nowadays.

You can enable per tab process in Firefox...

of course it is shit, I mean its not anymore more shit that the same thing in DummIEs browser or google Chrape

per tab processes are slower to switch to (open a loads of sites, ctrl+tab to cycle through) use more memory per tab, and use more cpu overall.. It also causes more problems for those with tons of addons.

Not to mention windows shitty task manager still doesn't allow for applications to label separate spawned processes. Like opening a new tab for a website, go into OS task manager, there should be a way for main application to specify that the tab process is for <domain/url> etc ofc the main application can have its town built in tab task manager like. ...

but still M$ are fucking shit at really improving much of anything for the OS these years.

As for 64bit firefox not bothered I use 64bit win7 (but really no benefit to switching to 64bit browser personally, I do see the need for them to push development on it, in the past it has caused few plugins to break so I don't use it, only needs a few core plugin to break and that kills it for me)

My Firefox memory usage really ever goes above 1gb most the time, even now at 32 tabs open firefox is at ~500mb, just opened 10 youtube videos having them all playing, firefox only went up 100mb, while flashplayerplugin exe went to ~350mb.. still under 1gb total usage.

I really never seen how some can go over 2gb for browser memory, I can only guess that noscript really does nerf the bloat of scripts and flash ads etc that can be on most websites down to such a minimum.

I don't have to look, there is plugin container for firefox under background processes...always was...unless you turned it off (which can be done manualy) for some reason.

edit:

sorry, didn't mean to sound arrogant but idk what firefox you are using but I ALWAYS had plugin container (like, since 4.xx version)
