John Carmack, the programming mastermind behind Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, Quake and many others, has left id Software. John Carmack joined Oculus VR as chief technical officer in August but id Software and parent company Bethesda both insisted that his work at the studio would not be affected. He's determined to work on that stupid Oculus Fail thing. It won't work, of course. It never has and never will, because people don't like strapping things to their faces for more than five minutes. But don't listen to me; go ahead and waste your time. I'll be over here chuckling at how silly you all look while I enjoy my triple-monitor surround gaming and Track IR.

@Apathy > Yeah you enjoy your 3 screens, maybe it'll improve your skills. As for Oculus vs Track IR, clearly you have no idea what you are talking about. Totally different tech's. Track IR is just idiotic and pointless.

Yep, according to my recollection of very old news, he was the one holding back new developments at ID; he was pushing his own crap and discarding others'. Just look at where Doom ended up.
