Whatever floats your boat, brother...
Frankly I cannot stand consoles and what they've done to the gaming biz. Makes an utter mockery of games from the past: we've only evolved with amazing art and graphics while stripping out lots of the challenge and functionality we used to have and replaced it with brain-dead on-rails convenience. Game sequels are almost always never better then their predecessors anymore but man they look gorgeous (much like how the stupid public loves a politician who smells/looks great but has no street cred or real track record/substance).
Anyway, I like the PS4 more than the XShiet720 the way its sounding so MS has much to convince they can do better. |

Holy christ on a skateboard nostalgia bomb. Had all that and more back in my college days. I remember how different manufacturers had some unique offerings even on prebuilts even IBM/Sony that were sometimes clever. Hell my first PC in school my folks bought me a dell with a trinitron crt. It was actually well made. I wasn't so cynical then though and everything seemed exciting and done with more passion being younger . |

Consoles did nothing to the gaming biz, developers did.
The PC wasn't making money, its a simple as that. Long before consoles were considered worth developing on/for, some of the biggest pc names in the business were going tits up. DID,Microprose,DI, Empire Interactive. The fall of Falcon 4 was one of the monster nails in the coffin.
Then the demise of full sized pc boxes and bound/printed manuals. By this time it was the turn up of PS2 and Xbox 1.
The writing was already on the wall for the PC in the late 90s. That was the end of its finest hour. Consoles are the next evolution; just like flat screen TFT over CRT.
PC developers have just become bone idol lazy, a generation that skipped making games solely for PC and like them all today, to make easy money for little input but mass production; be it console or an app for tabs.
Btw, I own an ipad2 but not for music but because all my newspapers are bloody on iPad but not on android!

My 17" is an Iiyama vision master pro CRT, had the diamond trnitron tube, currently at my sisters house with an old win98 machine.
72 Hz at 1600x1200. What a screen.
Yeah life was blissfully exciting, technology wise 20 odd years back and also less complicated. no mobiles, satellite tv in its infancy, no laptops, tablets roads less congested. And a 386DX PC cost £2,500 with a whole 1mb graphics adapter 640k on board cache and a x4 CDROM drive and a huge 640mb-yes mb hdd.
Those were certainly the days! |

Right.. so we lowered the intelligence of gaming in order to make coin. Says more about us all then the technology as when the bar is lowered, we cater to all, but become classic to none. Consoles just made it sooo much easier to be even lazier while satisfying their shareholders. Smart gaming is now niche which is so regrettable. |
