This makes me feel old, but I guess there are no great memories without getting old.
IMHO,
Best gameplay: MW2
Best music: MW2
Best controls: MW3
Best graphics: MW4+Mektek
excluding the online games.

I don't think I played mw3 or 4. MW2 is all I remember.

You did not miss much. There's a short story behind both, updated graphics engine and audio, plus, a few more weapons, mechs and the hardpoint system.
MW2 was better though. However, I never got to buy and play Ghost Bear's Legacy pack; I heard it was a kick-ass package. Maybe GOG will sell it one day...

My favs were my Matrox Mystique enhanced version of Mechwarrior 2

That and Mechwarrior 2 Mercenaries and Heavy Gear.

Excellent video compilation, btw.

I had the one packaged with the S3 Virge - that was my favorite.
You can try converting your game, too.

Of course, the S3 Virge. Lol Even early days of competition back then inc Rage.
Fortunately i'm lucky in that i have my very, very old legacy rig still working with my Diamond Monster 3D on a pass-thru to my Voodoo2 3DFX.
I can just bung in my Matrox Mystique and play all me old games in 640x480 inc Scorched planet, Destruction Derby 2 Laughing
well maybe not....till i'm old and senile and it's a novelty again!

I've been trying to get a legacy rig for a long time - to no avail.

I assume your talking building it?
There's plenty Pentium 100 motherboards on ebay, i think i had a gigabyte board with the intel 440BX chipset.
I have a different motherboard currently in my old rig, but can't access it readily to find out.

Here's one here

I jumped from a P90,100 and then P2 400 on the same board.

Sourcing reliable components is probably the hardest after buying the board, but as long as you don't spend too much it shouldn't be a loss.

The board is one thing. Need processor, cooler, S3 Virge, a Gravis keyboard and mouse, too.
Thanks for the recommendation! Seems to be US only.
