That video service seems to be a piece of crap (or, it that enjoying I am enjoying the benefits of the Canadian internet?) - extremely slow, even seeking barely works.
Is there anything in this video that would avoid this game from stamped as "just another dumb shooter with different models and skins"?

I would always steer clear of any xcom shooter/hybrid of any kind. The space opera versions aren't that bad if you wait around six months after release or longer for bug fixes.
