It's nothing new, just keeping your finger in as many pies to maximise profit.
They have to keep people, shareholders happy. Throw what's left of the code at the PC. |

it doesn't appear to be so.

Meaning, 52% of developers will be working for PC platform, only 20% for ps4 and even less for other consoles. Granted, some of the titles will be shared across platforms, as will developers themselves will be but still....like... PC gaming is dead ....not ^^ |

What about European developers? It's talking about 2600 North America devs.
Europe's view on game development is entirely different from America.
Obviously sales of PS4 are way ahead of Xbox one. Whereas it's probably the other way around in America?
Are we talking AAA game development or is it indie? Most AAA are released on console then PC or simultaneous.
For instance on Steam, Green Light allows some very good devs to sell titles which would otherwise be buried. Is this these 2600 devs?? It's far too 'general' a statement.
I wouldn't get too excited since we don't even know what games they intend to make.
I think due to licensing for game development, they have a duty to register for PC and console together or only develop for one platform. By having a multiple license they can pick or choose But develop for just one, but not necessarily PC.
Nothing is dead it's just spread out, nothing hardware wise is a clear winner other than -say- a AAA title eg GTAV fighting over scraps on each platform. Obviously when it comes out on PC it will be its biggest selling title for years, but no one really cares about PC ,PS4,Xbox, nintendoe etc as long as the game people WANT is available on their platform. no shit Sherlock.......... |
