Pretty impressive I guess! Anything to cut down the workflow.
Now I just hope all the cool sh!t in the SW universe after RotJ and covered in many amazing books post '83 can be packaged in the next fantastic SW trilogy. Huge expectations here!! |

It's all about costs, not workflow - which is interesting considering how much money they already make on movies and that Hollywood is built around the movie industry. When this goes mainstream, a lot of jobs will be lost in Hollywood and its neighborhood (immediately, or later as the usual trails dry up).
You can save on the props: you digitalize all Hollywood props and from that moment on, you can build any environments without having to worry about logistics, storage, amortization, etc.
You can save on the actors: you digitalize an actor once and from that moment on, you can apply the digital information to any situation: create any number of movies with any the actor(s) you want, even if they died long ago.
You can create an entire robot army for the cost of exactly one actor.
No need to cater for or pay travel for 100s of actors...
And so on...
The rich gets richer as usual.

As long as the end-product is decent than it makes perfect evolutionary sense for that biz. Yes its a Biz in the end but regrettably everything these days is about cost savings while maxing profits. |
