That is not an issue since he wasn't trying to do the exact same thing but rather to recreate the image from the game and add more atmosphere to it. Description of the video says he wanted to create the moment where player was basically doomed Smile (original image reads 95 rockets, his recreation has 1 rocket only and it takes more than that to kill that demon that stands between "the player and the freedom" )

besides, the point is how good the guy is, not to make perfect image. And even so, the final result pretty damn accurate and good! It's a 9600x7211 image, done in mere 35hrs. I consider myself pretty good at photoshop and there is no way I could have done it in 35hrs using the methods he used, everything is done manually here, bevels, shadows, highlights etc. Sometimes it's faster to do it manually then to use effects but you have to be very experienced and tbh, doing on this level without backup layers is insane Very Happy

Hmmm. I did take two shotgun shots, but I am pretty sure that a single rocket would have worked as well (I always used chainsaw for these demons as they cannot even touch you then).

Yes, nice, but remember that it's just a single image - not even close to being a 3D game.
However, I do agree that it'd be nice to see a HD remake of Doom that looks like this.

it's just his art, it was meant to be single image showing exit, demon and player hud, nothing more, nothing less. You can download the half-size image of deviantart. I think the dude wants to make a big print out of it, hence the large resolution.

If you read his comments on the video:

"As you can tell the style matches closely to the screenshot, but with a slightly more accurate perspective. I used a 3D rendering program to outline how things would appear in the scene to assure the perspective remained correct throughout the creation process."

The proportions aren't broken, they're fixed.

Perspective has nothing to do with proportions.
Look at the side-by-side image at the end and tell me that the exit sign has the same proportions (as well as the demon).
If you disagree, grab a tool and start measuring.
