back then, before internet, making a patch would have costed more than polishing the game (because there wasn't really any cheap mean of distribution)
now i guess it's cheaper to release the game on date, and put a patch on the internet a few weeks/months later
it's also partly because of the videogames market today, and its customers...
- there's a large bunch of stupid consummers who'll buy any games because of good "marketing" (think of games based on movie licence, etc)
- and the players complaining about "delayed games" and "outdated engines" urge the dev/publ to release the game "in the state it is" |
