TechNews - 10 Reasons to Upgrade to Windows 10 - tech|
(hx) 01:02 AM CEST - Jul,27 2015 |
- Intel Skylake slides leaked - Intel Skylake slides show 10-20% CPU performance boost,
faster iGPUs
and new features The Intel Skylake processors are going to be unveiled
on 5th August at Gamescom, which is just a few weeks away. We have come
here to see several leaks on Skylake, regarding the variants, the SKUs,
the platform and even seen some benchmarks already in which the Core
i7-6700K is being compared to the Core i7-4790K
- Nvidia Pascal GPU has 17 billion transistors - Pascal is the successor to the Maxwell Titan X GM200
and we have been tipped off by some reliable sources that it will
have more than a double the number of transisters. The huge
increase comes from Pascal's 16 nm FinFET process and its
transistor size is close to two times smaller.
- Acer XB280HK 28-inch G-Sync Ultra HD Gaming Monitor Review - Acer did something very smart in designing its XB280HK.
By optimizing a value-priced TN panel for performance and adding
G-Sync, it created a product truly worthy of a high-end gaming system.
You won’t get an extras like motion blur-reduction, 144Hz refresh rates
or special picture modes. What you do get for around 800 dollars is the
best possible Ultra HD gaming experience available right now.
- Best CPU Cooling - Large coolers generally require a wide full tower case,
though a few mini-ITX gaming cubes are designed extra
tall to compensate. Mid-sized coolers fit most mid-sized cases and
motherboards, albeit with reduced performance of smaller fans and
sinks. Slim coolers are under three inches tall and are generally
designed for low-profile cases. Due to various socket positions of
different motherboards, it's important to compare the actual
specifications of each cooler to the motherboard as well as the case.
- 10 Reasons to Upgrade to Windows 10 - Discover why
Windows 10 is the best combination of the Windows you already know,
plus lots of great improvements you'll love having. And all of your
stuff comes with you, so you'll be ready to do great things from the
get-go. In related news, PCWorld senior editor Mark Hachman's in-depth review
of Windows 10 is worth reading to get up to speed on the new
operating system.
- Bug that reduces battery life in Windows 10 - As
Microsoft is getting closer to the finish line, the company is becoming
increasingly vigilant about squashing any and all bugs they can find.
To that end, the company has already released numerous hotfixes and
security patches since last Thursday, when build 10240 hit RTM. A bug
that is currently affecting the battery life of some laptops running
Windows 10 is being worked on by Intel and Microsoft. Intel
confirmed the existence of the problem.
- 10 Reasons to Upgrade to Windows 10: SECURITY - As part
of its '10 reasons to upgrade' series, Microsoft's latest ad is all
about convincing
you that Windows 10 is Microsoft's most secure OS to date. The
video also goes over SmartScreen, Microsoft's built-in solution to
protect users from accessing harmful sites, mirroring the function of
browser extensions used by antivirus software. Last of all is the star
feature, Windows Hello. It's Microsoft's attempt to create an
authentication platform for the future, with support for fingerprint,
facial and even iris scanning, allowing authentication to not only be
far more accurate than a password but also less cumbersome. This is
certainly a useful feature and it looks like multiple devices are soon
going to support it.
- Microsoft Issues Emergency Fix For Windows - This
security update resolves a
vulnerability in Microsoft Windows. The vulnerability could allow
remote code execution if a user opens a specially crafted document or
visits an untrusted webpage that contains embedded OpenType fonts. This
security update is rated Critical for all supported releases of
Microsoft Windows. For more information, see the Affected Software
section.
- Microsoft lowers app installs from 81 to 10 with Windows 10 - Back
in 2013, Microsoft announced that if you are using a Windows 8/8.1 app,
it could be installed on up to 81 devices using the same account. But,
that is about to change when Windows 10 launches next week and will
reduce the amount of times you can install an app with the same account
by a significant margin - they are now being limited to 10 installs
under the same Microsoft account.
- Microsoft's 'Send' App is More Messaging than Email - Microsoft
has released a
new email application called Send. The idea behind Send, developed
by Microsoft Garage, is to let people send quick messages to one
another while still harnessing the power of corporate email. Send
messages strip out headers, subjects and footers, and look and feel
more like text messages. Even so, they are backed by companies' Office
365 email servers and can be viewed and/or responded to via Outlook.
- uTorrent is being blocked by Google Chrome and anti-virus
vendors - TorrentFreak
reports that uTorrent is currently being identified as a security
risk by at least six anti-virus software vendors, including Symantec
and ESET. Scans identify uTorrent.exe as being associated with
Trojan.Win32.Generic!BT, and also red-flag the OpenCandy bundling
software as being 'riskware'. There are no indications that the
uTorrent application itself is malicious - instead, it seems that the
'harmful software warnings' are being triggered by the third-party
software bundled with the app. But on top of this, uTorrent has further
problems to deal with, as Google is now blocking it as well. The search
giant is blocking various pages linking to uTorrent and other software
from its developers, flagging multiple pages which it says "resulted in
malicious software being downloaded and installed without user consent."
- Microsoft Reports A $2.1B Q4 Loss - Microsoft Corp. has announced
that revenues for the quarter ended June 30, 2015 were $22.2 billion.
Gross margin, operating loss, and loss per share for the quarter were
$14.7 billion, $(2.1) billion, and $(0.40) per share, respectively.
These results include the impact of a $7.5 billion non-cash impairment
charge related to assets associated with the acquisition of the Nokia
Devices and Services (NDS) business, in addition to a restructuring
charge of $780 million. There was also a charge of $160 million related
to the previously announced integration and restructuring plan.
Combined, these items totaled $8.4 billion or a $1.02 per share
negative impact. Excluding this impact, operating income and EPS would
have been $6.4 billion and $0.62, respectively. During the quarter,
Microsoft returned $6.7 billion to shareholders in the form of share
repurchases and dividends.
- Google+ Photos to Go Dark August 1 - Google has announced
plans to
shutter the Google+ Photos app and online service on August 1.
Google+ Photos was a part of Google+, the search company's social
network. Google+ Photos is being replaced by Google Photos, which
Google launched earlier this year. Google said all Google+ Photos
users' images and videos will be preserved, even if users don't port
them to the new Google Photos service. Google Photos includes more
features than Google+ Photos did, and offers unlimited storage for
image libraries. People who've already updated to the newer Google
Photos app and service don't need to take any action. Google Photos is
free to download from the Play Store and iTunes App Store for Android
and iOS devices, respectively.
- YouTube on Android will now play 'vertical' videos in full
screen - We have all seen it at one time or another - vertical
videos shot on a mobile that look atrocious. While many will still
continue to commit the appalling act of filming in portrait mode,
Google has updated its YouTube app, version 10.28 for Android, to
accommodate such videos by playing vertical videos in full screen.
Although the app has yet to be updated via the Google Play Store, you
can download the updated version from APKMirror.
While this won't solve the issue of people shooting videos in portrait,
Google has in the past attempted to fix this issue by placing a kind
prompt to rotate the orientation of the device for proper shooting in
their Android camera app. There is no official word on when this update
will hit the Google Play Store.
- BlackBerry All But Gives Up On Smartphones - BlackBerry
CEO John S. Chen said the company
plans to reduce the number of handsets it makes each year to one or
two. Chen said the company will make a couple of flagship-class devices
and ignore the low-end of the market.
- ZTE Max+ for Boost Bumps Up Specs - Boost
Mobile today listed the new ZTE Max+ for sale on its web site. The
spec bump improves the memory, processor, and battery compared to
original Max. The internal storage memory has been boosted from 8 GB to
16, and the RAM has also been doubled, from 1 GB to 2. The processor
has been updated to the newer Snapdragon 410. The embedded battery
receives a modest boost from the already-large 3,200 mAh up to 3,400
mAh. The design is also updated, featuring a rounded gold back. Other
specs are similar, including the huge 5.7-inch 720p display,
8-megapixel main camera, 1-megapixel front camera, and memory card
slot. The Max+ runs Android 5.1 and supports HD Voice. Like the
original Max, the Max+ supports 4G LTE, but only in the primary band of
the Sprint network, not the two other bands necessary for the faster
Sprint Spark service. The Max+ is selling for $199, which is $100 less
than the original Max at its debut.
- T-Mobile Fined $17.5 Million Over 911 Outage - T-Mobile
has settled with the FCC regarding two separate 911 outages on its
national wireless network that prevented customers from reaching
emergency services for a period of three hours. T-Mobile
agreed to pay the FCC $17.5 million in fines and take steps to
improve the strength of its network and 911 services. The company will
follow an action plan to prevent or minimize the impact of similar
outages in the future. For example, it will identify risks that could
result in disruptions to 911 service, protect against such risks,
respond with remedial actions, and recover from such outages swiftly.
"The Commission has no higher priority than ensuring the reliability
and resilience of our nation's communications networks so that
consumers can reach public safety in their time of need," said FCC
Chairman Tom Wheeler. "Communications providers that do not take
necessary steps to ensure that Americans can call 911 will be held to
account." T-Mobile's competitors, including Verizon Wireless, have
settled similar complaints with the FCC.
- T-Mobile Launches RCS-Based Advanced Messaging - T-Mobile
has announced Advanced Messaging, a refresh of its base messaging
service that adds several powerful features. Advanced Messaging is
based on Rich Communications Services (RCS), which allows T-Mobile to
offer near real-time chatting. Users can see when people are typing
responses, see exactly when messages are delivered, and see when
messages are read. T-Mobile's Advanced Messaging lets people instantly
share photo and video files up to 10MB, as well. Advanced Messaging
will first be available on the Samsung Galaxy Core Prime. Owners of the
Samsung Galaxy S5 and S6 can enable Advanced Messaging through a simple
system update. T-Mobile said more phones will launch with Advanced
Messaging throughout the year, and it expects the service to become a
standard feature across its product portfolio. T-Mobile Advanced
Messaging is built to work across all devices, makers, platforms, and
wireless operators. RCS is a standards-based technology and T-Mobile
expects to introduce other RCS products in the future. Advanced
Messaging will help T-Mobile compete with over-the-top messaging
services, such as Facebook, Skype, and WhatsApp, that offer many of the
same features
- Half-Life' spotted running on an Android Wear smartwatch - Emulators
have always been a great source of entertainment and an excellent way
to revisit classic titles and consoles. While it might not be the most
convenient means of playing, It looks like YouTuber Dave Bennett has
figured out a way to get Valve's 'Half-Life' running on an Android Wear device.
- Does Water Ever Expire? - Have you ever left a glass of
water out overnight, and it tasted terrible the next day? Does water
go bad?
- Ford Developing "Spotlighting" LED Headlights - Ford's
technology relies on more straightforward principles than, say, Audi's
Matrix LED setup to adapt the headlight beam for varying road
conditions and to illuminate roadside objects deemed a potential
collision danger.
- The Goriest And Greatest Digital Effects From 'The Walking
Dead' - To celebrate their recent Emmy nomination, Stargate
Studios has whipped up a clip reel to show just how they (re)animate the dead.
- The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 - Official Trailer
(2015) - After being symbolized as the "Mockingjay", Katniss
Everdeen and District 13 engage in an all-out revolution against
the autocratic Capitol.
- The Muppets - First Look Presentation - You were
never supposed to see this but everyone at San Diego Comic-Con
yelled too loudly and forced ABC to show it to the world. Here's the
pitch that convinced ABC to make a show with The Muppets.
- A Full And Riveting Trailer For The Next Bond Film, 'Spectre'
- Watch the new trailer for SPECTRE. A cryptic
message from the past sends James Bond on a rogue mission to Mexico
City and eventually Rome, where he meets Lucia Sciarra (Monica
Bellucci), the beautiful and forbidden widow of an infamous criminal.
- Steve Jobs: The Man In The Machine Trailer - What's that?
The ten other Steve Jobs films weren't enough for you? Well, check out the trailer
for Alex Gibney's Steve Jobs: The Man In The Machine, which appears
to delve into the Apple founder's darker side.
- The Good Dinosaur - Official US Trailer - A single
moment can change everything. Tag someone who has changed your
life.
- Fargo - New Season - Official Trailer - It starts small,
but this thing's 'bout to get a whole lot bigger. Watch the
TRAILER for the all new chapter of Fargo. Coming October to FX.
- Condensed IMAX Trailer for Snyder's Batman v Superman - Warner
Bros has debuted a new IMAX trailer for Zack Snyder's Batman v
Superman: Dawn of Justice that is a condensed version of the new
Comic-Con teaser. There are a few new shots of Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot)
in this one, which is cool to see, but it's still pretty much the same
of what we've seen before. And same as before I think this looks
awesome, way more exciting than what Marvel is doing. Batman v
Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters next spring, March 25th, 2016.
- Are You Ready For This, Scully? - Watch a New The X-Files
Teaser - I remember X-Files being about weird different stuff
every episode and really enjoying it, then it turned into a Youtube
conspiracy channel on aliens. This looks
more of the same.
- Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation - Two Movie Clips - Ethan and
team take on their most impossible mission yet, eradicating the
Syndicate - an International rogue organization as highly skilled as
they are, committed to destroying the IMF.
- Awesome Mad Max + Star Wars Mash-Up Video 'Road Wars' - Created
by Krishna Shenoi, this fun mash-up YouTube trailer combines the full
Mad Max: Fury Road trailer with sleek Star Wars bits and it's kind of
amazing!
- War Pigs Trailer - Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke War Movie - A rag tag
unit of misfits known as the War Pigs must go behind enemy lines to
exterminate Nazis by any means necessary.
- 6ft Man in 6ft Giant Water Balloon - 4K - The Slow Mo Guys - Gav
and Dan revisit an absolute classic with a slight twist. Now in 4K!
- Bamercise - Clean and Get Lean 1 - Easy Off
Bam's exercise video as seen on TV...
- Best Pre-at-bat Routine! - I don't know if this is an
intimidation tactic, but he is definitely interesting to watch!
- Odd Ring In The Sky - The aliens
are coming!!!
- Chihuahua Sad - Poor guy ;)
- Sharks Attack Pro Surfer On Live TV - During Sunday's
J-Bay Open in South Africa, Australian surfer Mick
Fanning was assailed by two passing sharks. Even the commentator
couldn't hold in a "Holy shit" when he realized what was happening.
Luckily, Fanning emerged unharmed.
- Groom Ruins Wedding Dance - OMFG :)
- Probably The Most Beautiful Mountain Biking Video You'll Ever
See - Watching a biker careen down the side of a mountain
shouldn't be relaxing, but this sumptuously shot single-take of rider
Brandon Semenuk from the film "unReal" is practically meditative.
- Nina Agdal for Beach Bunny - Love Haus - check it out
- Jennifer Lamiraqui Picture Moment - Hot and sexy
Jennifer Lamiraqui!
- Delilah Parillo Is A Hot Weirdo - check it out
- Exclusive look at Arianny Celeste calendar 2016 - By now
you should be pretty familiar with Arianny Celeste and real fans will
know that each year the UFC Octagon Girl produces a popular calendar.
Well 2016 has come early because a six photo

RCS is not a standard. It's merely a service recommendation. GSMA is not an SDO. Just a bunch of wannabes.
RCS is a marketing gimmick anyhow, so you don't get anything more than before.

Koogle | (09:49 AM CEST - Jul,27 2015 ) | For the first time ever I tried out final build of Win10 out yesterday.. and have to say...
It is absolutely FUCKING GARBAGE, I was literately amazed by the amount of shitty design work and piss poor implementation of just about everything. From from butt ugly interfaces, to the fucking oversized fonts and shitty looking icons and with fat padding in menu lists that just make you have to do more scrolling. To what I can describe as complete developer incompetence where dialog windows that should open up at the top of the window stack were actually opening up behind the window in focus.. like wow. And this fucking shitwreck of an OS was tested by thousands of fucking noob morons by the looks of it.
I will be staying with Win7 for some time, I just hope I don't have to care about DX12 for much longer don't think I could bare wasting the time trying to make that shitwreck of an OS secure and usable for myself, let alone cut off all built in shitware I mean phone home to all Microscum and partners spyware crApps.
Tom | (02:21 PM CEST - Jul,27 2015 ) | Fuck you moan as soon as it doesn't look like XP... I use it in a lab at work and it's not all that bad.

Thanks for your honest review.
I felt it lacks the level of quality I expected as well.
Tom | (03:30 PM CEST - Jul,27 2015 ) | I snort at both of you. I've been working with it for months, it's not so bad at all. Stable and faster than any of their previous OS's. Drivers are all not there fully but it will have better support out the gate than Win7. But ya, believe a guy who used it 'one' day with his thumb up his ass a guy who's known for slamming M$ whenever he can. Honest review.. ffs, you make me laugh.
Koogle | (03:58 PM CEST - Jul,27 2015 ) | It is an honest review and my thumb is pointing down to represent what a stinking turd of an OS that is, sure its better than Win8 that's like comparing diarrhea to cow shit.. what kind of flipping retard are you tom.. you use that pile of shit for months? wow
don't you report any of the fking glaringly obvious issues it has? man fucking shit for brains like you is the reason that OS is a pile of shit junk.
At least xp/win7 had a control panel with actual decent icons.. win10 entire control panel is complete garbage it looks like it was designed for mentally handicapped, complete with oversized spaced out shit interface. Don't even get me started on the tiles.. wow at least desktop gadgets didn't all have to look like some square shit corner crap.
and the fucking flat shit interface.. jeez its fucking unbearable.. at least the win7 aero gui had some glass style to it. monotone shite
its not even getting into the piss poor improvements.. of which there is fucking none. Where are the improvements and features to the taskbar handling, [mmb] taskbar closing should be a fucking thing already you stupid fucks.. I shouldn't need a shell extension for that in 2015 u fucking morons. Or fucking anything for that matter. Explorer is still a shit as ever, jeez fucking hell .. qttabbar developer spent less time making his explorer shell extension improvements.. than the entire shit corporation of 10,000+ MicroSuck employees can't even do some bare minimum improvements.
The race to the bottom must be almost over or just getting started.
What a joke.
Win10 should be free, so it can be given away to fucking morons who will happily provide there all there details, contacts, private information and photo albums to bunch of faceless shit bags who really like this piece of fucking garbage operating system. Clearly it was designed for both kinds of fucking twats.
Tom | (04:31 PM CEST - Jul,27 2015 ) | The only joke here is you. Fucking idiot who has his thumb so far shoved up his ass he can pick his nose from within.
El_Coyote | (06:40 PM CEST - Jul,27 2015 ) | Koogle> Microscum and partners spyware crApps.
I'm sorry but I cant take posts serious by people who are unable to
1. Say anything positive ever(yes this is you).
2. Hasn't gotten past the teenage need to turn company names into a derogatory that was all the rage in the y2k age.
I quite like windows 10. Sure they're launching it a bit sooner than i'd like. the control panel is one thing. they still have 2 control panels, and should have finished migrating it to the new layout.
The reasoning being that windows has to run on touch based devices. It's that simple. And then there is certain design rules you have to follow.
You see how well it went with windows 8 and trying to seperate touch from the desktop. This is what they're trying to remedy.
There is always some people that can't deal with change.
Tom | (07:05 PM CEST - Jul,27 2015 ) | Ya and there's always retards like Koogle. We are graced with his presence today spewwing his fucking whining ass everywhere.
Koogle | (08:44 PM CEST - Jul,27 2015 ) | I'm sorry but I cant take posts serious by people who "quite like windows 10"
Frankly they need lobotomizing for being so fucking stupid and having such piss poor taste.
Csimbi | (11:16 AM CEST - Jul,28 2015 ) | So, Windows 10 is indeed the last Windows.
But it's not the Windows people are going to use.
Thanks for the fuck-up Satya! I guess Ballmer thought you well.

Yes, then it just becomes Windows. So if you miss the boat with the free upgrade, eventually you will have to buy it. MS will then just keep updating windows as a service. At least that's what they are saying 'today'.
