NVIDIA will be taking pre-orders for SHIELD starting May 20th. According to the press release, the handheld gaming device will retail for $349 and ship in June. Project SHIELD is now, officially, SHIELD. The price is $349. Newegg, GameStop, Micro Center and Canada Computers will all carry SHIELD. It ships in June. Pre-order will go live on May 20th for the general public on shield.nvidia.com. Fans who have signed up to receive SHIELD updates by clicking "Notify Me" on the SHIELD website will have an exclusive opportunity to pre-order starting today.

They do realize there are systems like the Nintendo DS and PS Vita right? I'm all for competition but making the handheld cost more than an xbox360 with all the shit you can get attached seems like wishful thinking.

I guess they figure if people are stupid enough to go out and upgrade their video cards for no reason and spend upwards of $300 for it, those same people will go out and pay this ridiculous price. They can blow me because even at half that price I find it expensive.

Nope, $6'ish for their largest Frap. Never had a "plain" cup of coffee there LOL.

I really can't get over how expensive this device is.
