Here is a new list of my favorite FREE software:
- 7-Zip - Open
source Windows utility for manipulating archives. Formats 7z,
ZIP, GZIP, BZIP2 and TAR are supported fully, other formats can be
- Adobe Flash plugin - Get it
- Adobe Reader - Adobe
Reader software is the global standard for electronic
document sharing. It is the only PDF file viewer that can open and
interact with all PDF documents. Use Adobe Reader to view, search,
digitally sign, verify, print, and collaborate on Adobe PDF
- Avira Antivirus Software - If you cannot pay for ESET,
probably the best alternative is this.
- doPDF - doPDF
is a free PDF converter for both personal and commercial use. Using
doPDF you can create PDF files by selecting the "Print" command from
virtually any application. With one click you can convert your
Microsoft Excel, Word or PowerPoint documents or your emails and
favorite web sites to PDF files.
- FileZilla - FileZilla
Client is a fast and
reliable cross-platform FTP, FTPS and SFTP client with lots of useful
features and an intuitive graphical user interface.
- Firefox - Firefox Web Browser is the faster,
more secure, and fully customizable way to surf the web.
- HDDScan - HDDScan
is a freeware utility for hard drive diagnostics (RAID arrays, Flash
USB and SSD drives are also supported). The program can test storage
device for errors (Bad-blocks and bad sectors), show S.M.A.R.T.
attributes and change some HDD parameters such as AAM, APM, etc.
- ImgBurn - ImgBurn
supports a wide range of image file formats - including BIN, CUE, DI,
DVD, GI, IMG, ISO, MDS, NRG and PDI. It can burn Audio CD's from any
file type supported via DirectShow / ACM - including AAC, APE, FLAC,
M4A, MP3, MP4, MPC, OGG, PCM, WAV, WMA and WV. You can use it to build
DVD Video discs (from a VIDEO_TS folder), HD DVD Video discs (from a
HVDVD_TS folder) and Blu-ray Video discs (from a BDAV / BDMV folder)
- InfraRecorder - InfraRecorder
is a free application to burn CDs and
DVDs. FYI, CDXPBurner includes too many Adware :-(
- PSPad - PSPad
is a freeware programmer's editor for Microsoft Windows operating
systems, useful for people who work with various programming
environments and like highlighted syntax in their source code.
- QIP 2012 - ICQ client - QIP is a free unique closed
source computer program for immediate cross-Internet communication
- Shark007's FREE Codec solutions - This codec pack + VLC
and you have no problem to play any format on your PC. (Note: The
installator includes some adware, you have to uncheck checkboxes before
- Skype - With Skype
you can make free calls over the internet to other people on Skype for

- Total Commander - Total
is a file manager replacement that offers multiple language support,
search, file comparison, directory synchronization, quick view panel
with bitmap display, ZIP, ARJ, LZH, RAR, UC2, TAR, GZ, CAB, ACE archive
handling plus plugins, built-in FTP client with FXP, HTTP proxy
support, and more + *.ISO
- Thunderbird - Thunderbird is a free, open
source, cross-platform e-mail and news client developed by the Mozilla
Foundation + Mozilla
- VLCMedia Player -The
media player that fulfills all your needs. It handles DVDs,
(S)VCDs, Audio CDs, web streams, TV cards and much more. With VLC,
there is no need to continually update many different codec packs. VLC
comes with nearly every codec built in!
- Windows 8 - Restoring the Start menu - I prefer Windows 8
Start Button from Torch Media, but Classic Shell
is also good.
- StartIsBack - real start menu for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 - The
missing Windows 8 start menu is back. Get the most useful and authentic
start menu for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. Personally I prefer this
tool though it's not free ($2.99/PC).

buying especially if you copy from original DVDs/Blue-Ray
- ESET NOD32 - Fast, powerful antivirus with Anti-Phishing to
counter all forms of threats. It's not free, but it's worth your money.
- FRAPS - Fraps
is a universal Windows application that can be used with games using
DirectX or OpenGL graphic technology.
- Magic ISO Maker - MagicISO
Maker is a CD/DVD-image-file editor, CD/DVD burner, and
CD/DVD-backup tool. It can directly create, edit, extract, and burn ISO
files. It also can convert almost all CD and DVD image formats to ISO
and BIN/CUE. With MagicISO, you can handle DVD images up to 10GB, make
them bootable etc.
- Microsoft Office 2010 - Microsoft
Office 2010 is a
significant upgrade from previous versions of the Microsoft
productivity software suite. Cohesion and the ability to quickly and
easily share information major selling points. Microsoft has given back
control to the user and, combined with the massive functionality, the
results are overall rather pleasing.
- Microsoft Windows 7 64-bit - Microsoft
Windows 7 is the next
release of the Windows client operating system, built on the secure
foundation of Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008. Put simply, a
64-bit PC can handle larger amounts of information than a 32-bit
system. Since it can use more RAM - 4 GB and up - a 64-bit computer can
be more responsive when you're running lots of programs at once.
- Snapshot - SnapShot
is disk imaging software that enables the user to back up, restore and
view backed up hard disk data, easily and safely. If you need more
features, so then I recommend you Acronis Backup & Recovery
- Team Viewer - Remote
control any computer or Mac over the internet within seconds or use
TeamViewer for online meetings.
