YouTube's member Chadwich has captured 7 minutes of in-game action. MechWarrior Online is powered by CryEngine 3 and as you can see below, it definitely needs a bit more polishing. Nevertheless, it does look fun, so go ahead and take a look at this leaked footage!

If you mean what I think you do it should be the armor. Mechs are usually less armored in the rear.

No, what I meant is that when the mech is hit, its armor starts to glow in an orange/red colour. I wonder if that's actual heat, or merely an effect?
Actual heat would be neat - you would know where to aim your next PPC shot for the mech to melt down (rather than be destroyed).
But, it might only be a damage effect. At least, you can see a whole mech glowing just before it is destroyed...
Looks neat anyway, but if it were the heat, it would be even better.
