TechNews - Researchers claim quantum breakthrough! - tech|
| (hx) 07:59 PM EDT - Apr,26 2012 |
- Researchers claim quantum breakthrough - Researchers
say they have designed a tiny crystal
that acts like a quantum computer so powerful it would take a computer
the size of the known universe to match it. Details of the crystal,
which is made up of just 300 atoms, are published today in the journal
Nature.
- AMD Radeon Announces HD 7000M Series Graphics - AMD announced
the Radeon HD 7000M series
graphics. AMD redefines mobile graphics with the AMD Radeon HD 7700M,
HD 7800M and HD 7900M Series GPUS featuring the new 28nm GCN

- Best SSDs For The Money: April 2012 - This
month, the best deals are found in the $200-350
range. In particular, keep an eye out for 240 GB SSDs priced
closer to $1/GB than we've ever seen.
- Hitachi's 4 TB Hard Drives Take On The 3 TB
Competition - Hitachi created the Deskstar 7K4000 with 64
MB cache for the power user segment demanding lots of
capacity and a minimum level of performance for workloads like video
editing, semi-portable storage solutions, and video surveillance
servers. The 4 TB capacity point is several times larger than the
biggest SSDs, which incidentally cost several times more than Hitachi's
4 TB hard drives. The Deskstar 5K4000 has 32 MB cache and is designed
for data storage where large amounts of information need to be
available on file servers, NAS solutions, and near-line applications.
Low power consumption is touted as a benefit of the 5K4000 that helps
manage heat and cooling in larger deployments, too.

has a 1.3GHz Single-Core SoC, 512 MB of RAM, and 16 GB of internal
memory. Oh, and of course its outstanding 41MP camera.
- IBM Battery 500: A look inside a lithium-air
battery - In 2009, IBM researchers set out to develop lithium-air
battery technology capable of powering a family-sized electric car for
approximately 500 miles (800 km) on a single charge. Instead
of using heavy metal oxides, lithium-air batteries borrow oxygen from
the air as the vehicle is being driven, creating an air-breathing
battery. This results in lighter batteries with high energy density
that extend the car's range from a single charge.

I'd say all 100.000 macs were datamined by sophos and therefore unsecure. | |
