Wii U Less Powerful Than PS3, Xbox 360 - console|
| (hx) 03:41 PM EDT - Apr,03 2012 | Nintendo's upcoming Wii U console may generate full HD graphics, but it's not up to the graphics power of the Xbox 360 or the PS3:
"No, it's not up to the same level as the PS3 or the 360," said one developer who's been working with the Wii U. What does that mean? "The graphics are just not as powerful," reiterated the source.
This developer is not alone in their opinion. Another developer at a major company confirmed this point of view. "Yeah, that's true. It doesn't produce graphics as well as the PS3 or the 360," said the source. "There aren't as many shaders, it's not as capable. Sure, some things are better, mostly as a result of it being a more modern design. But overall the Wii U just can't quite keep up."
This may be a surprise to some consumers, who could be expecting that with a new console design five years later than the Xbox 360 or PS3 designs, that Nintendo should be able to produce more raw power than those consoles. It's not quite that simple, though. Cost and graphics power are generally tightly linked. Graphics on the cutting edge of chip technology is going to be more expensive.

The Wii has been surprisingly good for the money. Graphics are nice but if they stay decent with lower cost and great games I don't see an issue. The same kind of shit was said when the Wii was getting thrown around at release. I'll play my PC games on the PC and play the actual console games on the Wii.

Seems like they're going to go for overall game play and cost again. New 360's with kinect and whatever bundled extras are around $400. The Wii I picked up minus the GC controller ports was $100. Add in three remotes with chuks for about $15 a pop. Picked up a Wii speak for 10-15 can't remember was with a game (animal crossing maybe?). I'm not sure about the Sony move stuff or the ps3 bundles.
If they do more Kirby and actual Pokemon games my fate will be sealed. Somehow pokepark1&2 kept them satiated for a bit.
