Serious gamers spend more time on PC than consoles - briefly|

from a range of countries. Based on the data (#1, #2, #3), Newzoo estimates that US
consumers will spend $21.6 billion on games in 2011. Most of that ($8
billion) will go to console titles, but the PC isn't far behind.
Combining categories for retail-boxed and downloaded games pegs the PC
gaming market at $4.3 billion. MMOs, which are primarily played on the
PC (WoW madness), are good for another $2.6 billion, bringing the total
to $6.9 billion. Mobile, casual, and social-networking games are
expected to rake in slightly less: $6.7 billion combined. Of the
populations aged 10-65, with internet access, Germany has the highest
proportion of gamers, where 66% of the population are active players.
Next is Mexico with 57%, Russia with 53%, UK with 52%, Brazil with 47%
and USA with 42%.

A gaming PC costs more than a console for a reason. You can turn up the resolution as high as you want, and crank up all of the graphics settings. PC games look and play awesome. Or you can buy a weak console that the game maker had to turn down the resolution and all of the graphics settings because the crap console can't handle it.
Don't get me wrong, consoles have their place. I have a console but I don't play games on it, but it just amazes me that anyone can argue that a console is better than a gaming PC. |

Building my next super PC ~$2500w/taxes when Ivy Bridge arrives in Q1 2012 but its NOT even close to remotely being used for games. Games.. passhh.. I make serious coin off the dev work I do on PCs but if I have the option to game, sure.. Consoles have their place but it'll be years before they fully merge with PCs.
I cannot remotely make money from consoles, I can make SERIOUS money from dev work on PCs though. ;) |

If you watch films or stream then it's a no-brainer it's cheaper to buy a non restricted dedicated player or even internet tv.

My wife owns a 4gig, quad core, win7 1gig radeon.. it can play anything out today by way of games. Guess what?? it's never had a game on it. But she plays on her 3DS, PS3,PSP and DS See what i'm saying?? |

PC costs more partially because companies like nVidia and Intel and AMD rip you off on innovations created a long time ago. When their old technologies wear out and aren't making money they dive into something they invented a year or two ago and bring it out as new. Ever wonder about the patents and the Intel and AMD lawsuits? Well, you can only hide things for so long. I KNOW, I work in that industry. You talk about bias too, PC games look better and play awesome. BIAS. Does Duke look better on PC than console. Bullshit, as a matter of fact the dickheads turned down quality on the PC. Is there really any graphical difference of Assasins Creed pc vs console. I own both and they look about the same. NFS, looks about the same. It all depends on your perception in my mind. I find a lot of games look very close but I don't get a magnifying glass to compare. The games however all play perfectly fine on my PS3 even the 1080p games. So you talk lag? bullshit, usually fixed in a patch and not by turning down quality.

I am not getting anything wrong, you're clearly biased towards PC. I love PC but like these idiots stating PC is doing great, it's pure bullshit. The store shelves show a different story. And funny since lately the last few titles, not out more than 3-4 months are already in the bargain bin. I bought 3 pc games for less than 60, if I had bought them when they came out I'd be out some 180 bucks.
Console, "for the money", "for the titles that come out" is where gaming is at. Anyone and their uncle can come here insult me all they want, just tells me you're a fucking idiot who doesn't see the whole picture. |
