PS4 Is Like A 5 Year Old PC - console
(hx) 06:34 PM EDT - Jun,16 2017 - Post a comment / read (2)
Speaking to chaps at Engadget, A Way Out Director Josef Fares said (when asked to comment on PS4): "Do you want the honest truth? This machine is not so strong as you think. This is like a five-year-old PC. If consoles were as powerful as PCs are today, you would see all different games. Most of the work developers put out there is to make them work on consoles."

On the other side, another developer has praised Microsoft's upcoming console Xbox One X by terming it as a "high-end PC", and the most developer friendly console they have ever worked with. Paul Bettner, one of the developers behind upcoming Xbox One X launch title Super Lucky's Tale said the following thing Xbox One X (in an interview with GameSpot):

"From a developer's standpoint, [Xbox One X] is the most developer-friendly console we have ever worked with," he said. "Not just because the hardware is super over-powered--which it is. I don't understand how they ... it's like a high-end PC crammed into this tiny little box."

Bettner added: "The tools and support we had developing the game is the most advanced it's ever been. And I think that's because Microsoft hasn't necessarily been reinventing [with every new console], they've been refining and making it more powerful. This is the best version yet of the Xbox."

Pretty moot considering the price you pay.

I have a 5 year old PC,
i5 3570K (oc to 4.4GHz)
8 gigs of ddr3
amd r9 280X
SSD + HDD

So PS4 can match that? I don't think so. Xbox one can't either. WTH is that dude talking about? Did he have a celleron 5 years ago?

edit: I am pretty content with my PC btw. I am thinking about upgrading my GPU since this one is old and I do need a quieter one, and a bit faster, perhaps used gtx 970 (preferably) or 780Ti. Both are 200$ and under. And yes, I am aware that I can buy a console for that money, but this will last me a long time and run better than a console would.
