- AMD and Intel Rev Up Chips - AMD touts the performance of its

- WinXP USB 2.0 driver slides out, Win2k version MIA? - The
Windows XP USB 2.0 driver that leaked last week does seem to be
the finished item, and it's also available for download from Intel and Microsoft - in
the latter case, only sort of. But for some strange reason, the Windows 2000
implementation seems to have gone missing.
- ASUS Announces 32X/12X/40X CD-RW Drive - ASUSTeK Computer Inc.,
today announced
the release of the latest in of a series of innovative optical storage drives, the
ASUS CRW-3212A. The ASUS CRW-3212A 32X/ 12X/ 40X CD-RW drive incorporates innovative
technologies such as ASUS FlextraLinkTM, FlextraSpeedTM and DDSS II to provide a seamless
fusion of flexibility, ultra-reliable recording quality and smooth operation.
- Fuji perfects 3GB floppy - The company said it has developed a breakthrough
which it is calling Nano Cubic which will allow as much as three gigabytes of data to be
recorded on a floppy disk.
- Athlon XP Overclocking List - VR Zone has posted up an Athlon XP
overclocking list
with results from many overclockers.
- New Apple iMacs - Apple has announced new ""Geforce2
MX" versions of their popular iMac
line of computers:
15" LCD, 700Mhz G4, 128MB RAM, 40GB HD, CDRW: $1299, 15" LCD, 700Mhz G4, 128MB

- Linux and China to drive IT in 2002 - Linux will have a break-out year in 2002 and
China will contribute handsomely to tech firms coffers, according to the latest set of
predictions from research firm IDC.
- Sony denies new OS deal - Japan's Sony Computer Entertainment
(SCEI) denied reports it would join US IBM and compatriot Toshiba in
developing a computer operating system (OS) for global use.
- Windows XP in your living room - At the Consumer Electronics Show, which begins late Monday in
Las Vegas, Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates will show off a prototype consumer
interface for Windows XP, code-named Freestyle, according to the company. Instead of the usual Windows desktop, Freestyle features a series of large
buttons, visible from across a room, that in conjunction with a remote control can be used
to launch a video, play a music file, access digital photos, watch and record TV programs,
and view DVDs.
- Panasonic adds WMA to DVD players - Bill
Gates, in his keynote address at the 2002 International CES show this evening, will
demonstrate WMA support in DVD players with the unveiling of the new Panasonic DVD
player model DVD-RV32, the first of many Panasonic DVD players that will support WMA.
- Disney World creates wireless magic - The entertainment giant is
providing hearing-impaired visitors the use of wireless devices to follow some of the action
in its theme parks.
- Motorola unveils hands-free car phone system - Wireless
technology giant Motorola on Monday introduced a new
hands-free phone system for cars that will allow drivers to make calls from their
regular cell phones using voice commands.

- ICQ Plus v3.2 - ICQ Plus v3.2 has just been released. ICQ Plus allows you to change
the appearance of ICQ. When installed, ICQ Plus integrates with ICQ by adding a menu item
to the main menu. Choosing this menu item brings up a dialog that lets you configure ICQ's
appearance in several ways.

- Nvidia Unified Driver - Nvidia has released the Unified Driver
Package V1.0 today. The package adds EAX 2.0 support.
- VIA AC97 Audio Driver - The new drivers
include two WHQL Logo CAT files into this package, one being for Windows XP only, the
other one for 98SE, ME and 2000.
- AMD Driver Package V1.30 - It looks like only the support
for the 768-Southbridge of the AMD 760MPX of chip record is new - download.

- Matrox BIOS - This new
BIOS (G550, G450, G400 & G200 Series) fixes bug where our graphics BIOS was using
DVI timings even though the hardware has no DVI connector, and bug on the G550 where
in some cases, any monitor conneceted to the HD15 connector would be blank either during
post or blank during post and also in Windows.
