A demo of ION Storm's RPG Anachronox has been released and is available on the Eidos FTP, 3DGamers, FilePlanet and 3DFiles (92.3MB)
Anachronox is a third-person perspective, party-based RPG using the Quake 2 engine. The basic setting is sci-fi with a lot of humor thrown in, and combat is turn-based.
The game's main character is Sylvester "Sly" Boots, a down and out detective with a big debt hanging over his head. Early on, Boots happens upon a bodyguard job that should help him square things away - but all too soon, things take a turn for the worst and Sly finds himself caught in the middle of a sinister galactic plot. Together with his comrades - an old flame turned mercenary, his holographic secretary, a renegade scientist and his lackey robot - they head off on a multipurpose journey to unveil the mystery behind a technology developed by an extinct alien race. As well as put a stop to whoever is causing the universe to fold in on itself.

MAN i cannot believe the graphics can be this good! I AM TOTALLY IMPRESSED! I HAVE PLAYED MANY RPG'S AND THIS ONE IS ONE OF THE BEST. Lots of cool characters and missions in the game . The acting is kind of wierd but cool. above all the best thing about this game is the music very very good music. Sometimes i don't even play the game i just listen to the music! DEFINITE BUY!

I tried the demo a bit this evening and I can say "wow". They really made a very nice game out of such dated engine. Specially those fog, fire, and weather effects. Nothing really new, but they were all nice done. The camera system was a big disapointment, I was having a hard time to keep my head looking straight :P Since I am not a big fan of RPG, I won't be buying it. But I will recommend this game to any Final fantasy fan. Anyway, some people should start respect other's people opinions and stop unmature comments.
